EK pilot EK cabain crew as Wife?
Hi,
Does anyone here have any experience (direct perhaps) in regards to pilots who have wives who are cabin crew?
Is it possible to have a normal relationship? What I mean is, will you ever be able to see each other? Anyone have any insight? Does it work well? I know every couple will obviously be different, but was hoping to get a general idea.

No direct experience, but you will both be working so hard that you will be lucky to be at home together more than a few days a month-if that.
The rotating bidding systems are run separately for pilots and cabin crew so bidding for the same flights will not be very successful. Most pilots wives who are cabin crew will stop work shortly afterwards and take up breeding or another career in training or recruitment etc.

You will fly together perhaps once in two years. You will see each other about 5 days a month. ......... you will always have the same boaring conversations.
The Cabin crew work very very hard in terms of flying hours.

Thanks for the replies. I actually wasn't referring to flying together, just in terms of how much you'd actually see each other at home/travel together (I don't mean working)/and doing stuff together.

Thats what I am referring to. How much you will see each other.
You go on a 9 day trip. She has a few turns inbetween. You get back and she's on her 9 day trip. She gets back and you have a quick cuppa before your next turn. I would say you will see far less of each other than you might like.( then again this might suit some)
Then the biggy ( LEAVE) , to try and co ordinate it that you both have leave simultaneously is about the same odds as winning the lotto.
Now in Lufthansa they recognise that crew might actually date crew and to my knowledge they actually try roster you together. Can any LH mates confirm . sounds progressive.

Fourgolds...are you speaking from experience or just opinion? ..."I would say"
Because quite frankly what you state is a load of bollocks. Sure it's not easy, but with a little effort swapping you normally have half the month together. Co-ordinating leave isn't easy, but its achievable. You can pax on a flight with her to a destination your fleet doesn't go to...makes for a fun night away, and pretty cheap with the hotel paid for.
Nothing's easy in life, but with a bit of effort you can make it work. ...And that's speaking from experience.

Foreplay now is a coffee at CBC as we cross over!!!
It's pretty good though as said, swaps and days off are a way to manage the situation.
Leave I agree is a very difficult thing to organise, we tend to take separate hols as the bid periods don't coincide.
Besides being with the missus 24/7 would do our heads in!!
Keeps it interesting and when we get together its good fun.
