From the Chairmans mouth:
Chairman

Dear Colleague,

I am very pleased to announce that the Emirates Group has achieved record profits for the past financial year, 2007-08.

The group profit share target was set at Dhs3.75 billion, which we have surpassed.

You are, therefore, entitled to a bonus, equivalent to 14 weeks' pay, in your May salary.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum

I am presently surprised, I expected less than half that. However, the cynic in me wonders if this is to sweeten the blow of a less than fantastic pay rise? Hope not.

The pay review is usually announced in the first week of May. There was one year though, that it was not until the 16th or so. That was too late for the May paycheck, so it was on the June paycheck, retroactive for May.

Regards,

I'm glad I'm here

“As we plan for the next decade, our biggest challenges will be to find more pilots, engineers, cabin crew and skilled staff across our various business units. Fortunately, Emirates has thus far been a strong employer brand, with more than three million unique visitors browsing job opportunities on our online recruitment website last year, from which we received over 288,000 applications for positions within the Group. Being based in Dubai also has its advantages as the city itself is already preparing to welcome 15 million visitors by 2010 and there is massive investment in infrastructure to serve and attract the increasing number of expatriates.”

Looks like they have an idea about the need to pay to get the right people too!

What month do we get our 3% increment?

Well, this looks good. Thanks to EK, it's the right track, as it looks like a "profit share" and not only a bonus.

It's great, hope the pay review will be in the same direction.

It however doesn't make the other irritants (rosters, vacations, inflation, traffic, etc.) disappear...

I will enjoy today, and wake up to reality again tomorrow...

It was well needed....

Dear Wiz ,
I think Rambo is right you will pay by losing 14 weeks of your longivity for the appaling working conditions you guys have .
You never get anything for nothing especially in the ME.

It was a bl**dy hard year and yes, 14 weeks is very much appreciated.

We all earned it, every cent.
