Question A380 Question

Question for EKer's

Does anybody know how Emirates will handle crewing for the A380. If I understand correctly, anyone starting on the A330 has to wait one year before being cross-qualified on the A340. Is there any word when a new hire might be able to crew the A380?

Thank you

It would seem the current airbus drivers are working very hard at the moment and there will be no way they can train enough drivers internally. Deliberatly im sure as direct entry crews will be required for it. EK had the last couple of years to stock up on Airbus crew but they didnt.

You don't have to be 340 qualed to go onto the 380. I know some 330 guys who are going straight onto the 380.

S S- Terrible attitude you have there.

Look forward to seeing all you guys in the nice new A380 with totally p*ssed of cabin crew.
So you get satisfaction from the poor treatment of your peers. Hmm how sad and utterly unprofessional.

Depends on how "'Initial" you are talking Warlock.
I know of a guy on the July 380 course who is 330 only.
July seems pretty initial to me.

340 endorsed is not a requirement .330 and 340 is same CCQ to get 380 endorsement. Very soon next year the 380 will be an initial F/O entry aircraft . Not bad for a first wide body !

Hey Lord Flashhart:

Do you know how long these guys (only A330 qualified) were on the A330?

Where they under 12-months?

How long have they been with EK?

ataboy,

a year and a half, with EK.
Conversion course onto the 330 takes about 3 months.

Thanks Lord Flashhart, but I thought EK would cross qualify the A330 drivers on the A340 after one year?

Lord Flashart is probably talking one and a half years total time after joining. Your conversion starts about one year after your final line check.

I can vouch for that...it was about the same time frame for me.

6 months for the first batch. But EK is going to bring A330 guys directly into the A380 without an A340 type on their lic.

No DEC'S in the A380 as per FOM. May change like everything else in EK.
