In my humble opinion, there is no independence and true impartiality. Auditors, needing desperately the job, will not compromise their "living" or accomplish their true job otherwise will get a pair of skates. Anything found will be "whispered and nicely talked" amid loads of smiles and fraternal exchanges and a serious "finding" won't go down on the paper so easily.
Bear in mind, that these behaviours are common all over (not just this region). I would probably risk saying that Oman may well be an exception in this region for the time being. Oman is here to grow...
It’s sufficed to say that all depends on the levels of professionalism and the Authority's ability to resist the lobbying otherwise known ....... And again, it depends a lot on the real need for the auditor to keep his job. I say no more.
