A New war has started
Bair is selling tickets at BD 5 and GF is retaliating by selling at BD 9. And they are saying the two airlines are complementing each other! ! what a fxxxxxg joke. Those people in GF who decided to cut the fares to this level must be shot for a crime they are intentionally committing. The GF flights are either full or overbooked creating chaos at airports, even during the discounting period. So Why discounting ?

This is now entering a liabelous state for those who are being paid to lead. Another nail in the coffin. Most countries one would be put in jail for allowing this to spiral to this extent.

My understanding is that this particular baby is a scheme created by VP Corporate Strategy - BN's right hand man - in order to create havoc for Bahrain Air at their launch. A shot across the bow if you like; I would suggest this is normal practise - but not so sure GF is in a healthy enough state to be going this far - especially as passengers in this region on those routes are perhaps more fickle than most. I guess this will have no long term impact on Bahrain Air at all but will hit Gulf Air's revenues.

This practice is completely silly for GA to be involved in. As they are bleeding enough already, so much for BN cutting the losses looks like they will be right on track to lose a big pile of cash. Management is making themselves look like complete idiots to the rest of the world.
There has been no real change since BN has been put in the acting Boss position. The fact that there have been no statements from management or the chairman who like to hear himself speak.
It look as though nothing will happen over the holidays as your leader is busy on holiday Europe, and the chairman is just spinning his crystal ball to get the answers before he again puts his foot in his mouth.
I would just bunker down as there will be no immediate changes

How many seats are they selling at the reduced rate....for how long.....what routes......etc etc etc.
Unless your involved in the strategy how can anyone here know if it is a good idea or bad? We don't know the details and the actual cost...we don't know anything.
Based on past management teams I can see why peole get this way. Best to judge after the facts not before.

What are you talking about? if you read the newspapers you will find that GA has advertised selling 500k seat cheap. If you go to www.gulfairco.com you will know what routes there are selling cheap. Advertising in newspapers and selling this cheap is costing the airline an arm and leg… you should know this if you were part of the management or this why you are management of the past? Try booking some of the routes and you will see some of them are full.full.full….
It is understandable why Bahrain air is selling cheap, they are introducing the airline. GA is discounting for no reason at all. This is a typical practice of a failing sales management and a complete loss of direction and innovation by top management.
When will these people stop draining the airline, or have someone responsible start boot some axxxs ?

So why not sell of seats which would be going empty whilst at the same time damage your new competitor?
Of course you good stop flying the planes but then the pilots and crew won't be happy

I totally agree with you left-class, however in charge in both sales departments knows what there doing, in the end of the day the customers will be happy with such a deals and the airlines will get the cash!

Bahrain Air eyes own market
In today's Bahrain Tribune:
Bahrain Air, the second national carrier
of Bahrain, is upbeat to create its own
market rather than sharing the existing
market with Gulf Air.
Director of commercial operations MS
Fakhri said that Bahrain Air would not
share market with Gulf Air rather it would
create its own market by offering
affordable fares.
“We are not after anyone else's market
share - we are aimed at those who can't
afford to fly regularly at the moment. We
are two different products, which should
complement each other but our price has to
be cheaper than Gulf Air as we are a low
priced airline.”
Fakhri added that Gulf Air had a bigger
fleet and a bigger route and for this reason
they shouldn’t feel any pressure from
Bahrain Air.
Last month, after the official launch,
Bahrain Air has become the first privatelyowned
premium low-priced carrier (LPC),
with a paid-up capital of BD8 million and
an authorised capital of BD10 million, will
start operations as second national carrier
of the Kingdom of Bahrain from January
17. Bahrain Air will use a fleet of modern
Airbus A320 aircraft and has ambitious
plans to expand its operation within GCC,
Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent.
The new airline is poised to grow in line
with the regional surge in the aviation
business and would achieve business
objectives outlined in the three-year plan.
In the meanwhile, Bahrain Air
announced the completion of selection of
first batch of 44 cabin attendants.
Captain Ahmed Yaqubi Director of
Operations and Maintenance, said: “The
candidates were carefully selected through
an intensive examination which included
the test of their personality, efficiency in
the area of customer service and their
English language.”
The groups included 24 candidates from
different nationalities. This has now raisin
the total of the selected candidates to 44
Cabin Attendant from 12 different
nationalities. The two groups will leave the
Jordan to join an intensive course that takes
10 days covering First Aid, emergency and
safety procedures and fire-fighting. The
training shall be conducted at the Jordanian
Training Academy, which has been
approved by the Civil Aviation Affairs in
the Kingdom of Bahrain. Company
officials were keen to choose the training
centers with a reputable performance and
efficiency in order to maintain its high
standard of service especially in the area of
air safety.
He added: “Bahrain Air’s aim is to
strengthen the Bahraini labour market
through recruiting Bahrainis to work within
the in-flight services and encourages
Bahraini females to apply for Cabin
Attendant positions through its website.
This is in addition to other areas of
specialisation.”
According to senior official Bahrain Air
will set a new standard in its category while
tapping the huge base of passengers flying
on GCC and African destinations. Initially,
the airline will cover 13 destinations and
140 flights weekly across the region.
Backed by leading investors from
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia with 68 per cent
and 32 per cent shareholding respectively,
Bahrain Air is upbeat about grabbing a fair
market share by offering an innovative
product.
The induction of first batch was
announced at a reception attended by
Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla
Al Khalifa and airline’s managing director
Ibrahim Al Hamer.

but, I can't see any problems in GF website design, its totally normal, and the career page looks updated.

Sultan my friend was talking of Bahrain Air not GF....jist?
GF has passed the stage of meeting any common sense, with all possible elements to succeed, it took the bahrainis know how to sink it and an their complicity to help foreigners do the same.
What a reputation Bahrain is making itself...hence the term "Indians " if the gulf, but even those make better than you do.
