Mixed fleet flying (MFF) is being done in QR, but only by instructors.

They can fly A330/A340 or A330/A320.

In general it is said that MFF for the mainline pilots (Not instructor astronauts heheheh) will only be profitable if both fleet sizes are more or less the same. Tinitin pointed it out earlier allready, it has to do with staying current on both machines.

Since QR has 29 A330s and only 5 A340s, it makes no sense to qualify all the pilots on both airplanes. Same goes for A330 vs A320.

Hope this helps...

Regarding Annual leave...what did you expect my friend? We have NO management at the moment and we have NO designated rostering manager! Who would take a decision like that now, while nobody knows what/who the new management is going to be(like)...

Bad luck for those of us who have requested leave in jan/feb 2008!

As usual, scramble like measures will be taken soon.....

here we go once again empty promises are hitting the wall. Vacation not published existing leaves canceled. Guys due for their upgrade are still waiting for any kind of info. All the rumors about relaunching the upgrades turned out to be a hoax. Nobody makes a move waiting for the new management to arrive. QTR wannabes hold your horses till it's clear where we're all steering.

I am wondering how many pilots, actually flying for QR, have resumes pending elsewhere...

Faith in the company has never been so low in years....

..OK.. as Somebody has mentioned a sudanese guy for rostering management a few weeks ago on this thread, i thought this problem was solved...
We are working hard in this company...., the MINIMUM from the management should have been to make some effort to solve thisproblem on time, in order to show some consideration for crew...Not even that!
DISGUSTING!
This company ,human wise is a total disaster! And if they continue on this way,,this gone be a bad Luck..but for the company.
And than they wonder why people are leaving...!!

Pitta man....

GOTCHA!

And FYI, no upgrades anymore on A330 due to overload of captains on that fleet!

Indeed ..some flights on 330 and 320 are operated with 2 captains...
So they must be an overload of CPT ..or a lack of F/O...

Too many captains and by far not enough FOs!

Word is out that upgrades are a far fetched dream in QR, so no more capable FOs are applying to this outfit!

On top of that, in true QR style, the recruitment team has always been focussing on Capt recruitment. No matter where you come from, if you call yourself Capt you are looked upon as a god overhere!

So they overrecruited on the Capt side, and forgot the FO side of things!

Only this month they have realised their mistake and DEC recruitment is supposed to be stopped totally! Only the people allready offered a job will be accepted in!

Good first step, but QRs reputation is so damaged allready that I do not see more FOs applying in the nearby future....

EVACUATE EVACUATE EVACUATE!

Upgrades

Not true ! Just flown with CT A330 few days a go and confirmed upgrades on A330 continue and A320 as well some F/Os waiting CEOs clereance and some DEC training in progress so upgrades slow down but it will start again in Jan .
B 777 upgrades will also take place in 1 y when B777 will not be mistery any more .
New jojning F/O has to wait for 5-6 y at the moment to promotion which is ok becouse in any other big airline you have to wait much more 7-12 maybe even 14y . That makes 5-6 y GOOD !

The only difference, if you fly for a major airline(Lufhtansa,Air France,Cathay...), itīs probably worth to wait 7..12 years for an upgrade.!
But ..6 years in an airline like Qatar airways, itīs very(too) long, as this is the only good think here in Qatar airways:The upgrade.

Couple ofthings to keep in perspective here:

Pita man, you have flown with CP Training A330. I know, I have seen your roster! One thing you should know than as wel is that he is a very nice person but he will tell you anything you want to here! Off course he will tell you that A330 upgrade is continuing! He has to! He will tell you as well that upgrades are continuing just as before....

Look at the facts!

The guys selected in April all but 3 had over 6000 hours! All of them are being put on the A320 fleet! Fact 1

The last guy of that group (April 2007) will start training in june 2008! Fact 2

The guys selected in june (17) have never been approved by the CEO, as he does not believe upgrades are a high priority! They have been waiting for 6 months now for any news! FACT3

Than there is the group selected in November (18).

As far as I could understand, both the june and november lists have been merged together, making a big list of 35 people, all awaiting still approval from the CEO! FACT4

That means, all in all, over 45 people are awaiting a training slot allready for upgrades. Most of them are well above 6000hrsTT but upgrades are only continuing on A320! ( 5 guys upgraded on A330, all selected in december 2006, thats it!)

At the current rate, this means the last one of this group will do his upgrade in december 2009! Fact 5

So Pita man, you said you have 6 months to go so that is selection june 2008. That means 2 selection meetings from now. That means mid 2011 if nothing changes!
That is 5 years + after joining! And it is only getting worse for the guys after you!

Another thing you should take into consideration....

Lets say you do your upgrade here. Where will you go afterwards? The majors will not accept you as DEC and this Disney world overhere, this paradise for DEC where so many of us took advantage of, will not continue to exist forever!
So no comparison whatsoever!

Regarding QR being safe! I will not discuss such a thing on a public forum but if you honestly think that the JNB incident was the only close call we had so far, think again! Go and talk to the guys in the safety office and you will see!

But do not live in oblivion mate!

Always remember a sentence from one of my instructor who told me :" you known flying a modern aircraft today from A to B, when the weather is nice, aircraft is ok...even my Grand Mother can do it.......BUT...When you have a serious technical problem and the weather is sh... and.... than you better be a well trained and qualified pilot...."
Hope Qatar Airways has not been just lucky up to now....

P.S.: leave allocation has been released.

We're very lucky to have these genius pilots in QR. Very professional of them to post anonymously on an internet forum and tell the rest of us how crap we are.

At least 8 years!

Remember: Almost 500FOs in front of you now!

Pita man: divide your 6 by two and you know what I am talking about!

So sad! Do not believe anything until it actually happens. Unfortunately there will also be people who believe every single word the management and its managers say. As Qatari515 says, go ahead and believe it. I spent three and a half years there and quickly realised you should take everything with a pinch of salt until you actually see it happening!
