Emirates have announced an order for the 747-8 freighter . Now 8 747-8s have been ordered in passenger version , (Flight International).

Question is ,does anyone know when they will start taking delivery and who will fly them ?

Edited for mutleys sake

Rumours that the 748s will be based LA ,San FRan ,UK ,etc and the requirement for the positions will be a current 747-400 rating, which leaves all EK drivers not qualified.
Should have formed a union boys...

What a load of rubish!
There is no way that EK will allow it's passenger aircraft to be operated by any third party company.
When EK buys an aircraft they want to operate it, including cargo aircraft.
If they can't get enough guys or girls to fly them they may be forced to look else where but until then they will be operated and based in Dubai by EK staff, even if they are direct entry crew.

SW is right on that one. No MMF as well , more in fighting to follow. The DEC,s on the Airbus that are going to the 777 are more than likely got the " inside" track to the 748.

Just wait for it !
