Hello Everyone.
I have a couple of questions about QR - 777 Fleet Application process. I must say i checked several pages under this thread but i can not find exact and recent information. Thats why i m gonna keep you busy. I m about to apply for co pilot position to 777 fleet. I m currently flying for 777 with total 2900 hours (1600 hours on type ) and i wonder a couple of things about process ;
1- Is there anything special about online application ? Do we need some references or do we have to complete some online tests just after we apply ? I like to be prepared in advance in order to be ready.
2- What i need to spend time on ? I mean, which source do i need to study for ;
- Online tests
- Atpl exam
- Skype interview
- Simulator check
etc.
People are mentioning about latestpilotjobs web site ? Is it a reliable and recent source to prepare myself ?
4-= These days how long does it take to finish all the steps and get an OK from company ( i hope ) and in case of a positive result , when do i have to start without starting all the steps from beginning ? ( Lets say in 6 months , 12 months etc )
5-) How long does it actually take to get out from company provided house to housing allowance option ? 6 months , 1 year , 2 years ?
I m waiting to hear your valuable comments and guidelines for a successful application period.

I am also 737NG First officer and waiting in the pool almost 10 months and still no DOJ I have some friends in same situations even more than 10 months. I think I will never get an an offer and I am really unhappy with my current company. so for me, may be its time to consider other side of the gulf.

Nope still I dont have neither doj nor any approximate date. recently I heard from my two friends they applied recently and they got a mail about their application in hold position because unforeseen circumstances.
I guess the pool is too crowded and they are not in a rush. So 1 year holding time is the fact at least for nontype boeing first officers/captains.

Hello,
First post on this thread and I am wondering about the QR Cargo operation. Is it a separate contract for the 777F/748F? Full time in Doha or commuting is possible? Any ideas on roster and hours/month? I would be applying for a FO position.
What is the general mood of those flying cargo with QR?
TIA

Same question, different thread...
Hi folks
I asked the same question at the EK thread, and I`d like to listen about QR too. Brazilian, current ERJ 190 FO, almost 3000 hours on type, 4000 total, and from September/august flying an A320 in the same airline I work today. A320 Capt salary in my airline is about 6500USD based on todays currency. I really enjoy living in my country despite the problems, but I`m afraid I might feel like I've failed on my achievements as a professional pilot if I do not fly a wide body jet as a captain during my entire career. And I really don't believe I will do so someday in Brazil.
I'd rather for a commuting contract, but also based on my experience, I know I couldn't get any contract that would be beneficial for me considering that those contracts hardly offer fast upgrade and they are all based on Far East, what makes things even more complicated. So, today, I only consider moving to the Middle East.
What do you think about that? Should I apply to QR after I get about 500h on the A320?

Hello guys,
I am a B737 first officer considering to apply Qatar Airways, I have some questions if you would answer I'd be happy.
1-What is like 777 and 787 rosters, (how many days off monthly, how many legs planned, average layover days in a month? ) trying to compare with emirates.
2-I think there has been a change in staff travel policies, is my wifes family (mother and father in laws) can get staff travel , or id90 travel tickets?
3- and do you know the location of the accomodation house given to first officers?

1) Don't fly the Boeing... so can't really comment.
2) Staff Travel for 'dependents' remains unchanged -the inclusions would include your spouse's Mother/Father, so not a problem. What has changed is the 'Privilege Pass' benefits - friends and other family... this has been suspended until further notice.
3) Company accommodation could be anywhere available... I started in Ain Khalid then moved to the Pearl. It's reasonably easy to move between company accommodation depending on where you want to move to... but not so easy moving out.

What were the captain upgrade requirements within QR? Especially on the Boeing fleet. What do you guys also see mostly? Like upgrade after 3, 4, 5 yrs etc.
No commander experience.

Note the Command upgrade process can be fairly lengthy... it includes Assessment flights, PSA (pilot suitability assessment) and interview. Then if you pass you do CBT, Sim, Line Training etc. The 'process' may start from as little as 3years after your DOJ... so people may say they are getting their 'chance' after 3years or so but in reality being assigned a course and completing the training can be several months later. On my Fleet the 330... some people are doing the PSA etc now, after 3-3.5years of DOJ with no previous Command experience (but they obviously have the hours and company requirements already).
