Bear in mind that this is the current situation. It doesn't mean it will stay like this forever.
Due to the blockade in June last year QR expansion plans were severely affected, which consequently affected the talent pool wait period.
Now that the company have adjusted their business plan to the current reality I believe the influx of pilots should start heating up again, so I don't think the wait period will remain as long as 18months as it is now.

This is just my point of view. It's all a guess game.

Better money
Actually getting your 42 days of annual leave with ability to bid for block off's before/after
Proper swapping/bidding system
Much better rosters
Much less fatigue
Shorter time to upgrade
No 35 year limit for upgrade
Better staff travel benefits

Hi,

I have applied for a 777 Captain position and I am now "swimming" in the QR Holding pool. I read that not rated people may wait between 12 and 18 months.

Any idea how long is it going to be for rated 777 DECs?

Thanks in advance

It is rumored that DEC recrtuitment is going to stop soon (though I personally think it unlikely) to prioritize internal commands to FOs. Also heard no more 737 guys into the T7.
But then again this is PPRUNE.

@FlyingOW

Thank you very much for your info. Do you think they will still hire (rated) people who are in the holding pool?

I understand that FOs cannot be happy about DECs though (I wasn't happy when the same happened to me).

Let's wait and see.

I didn't heard that before. Where did you heard this rumor. Actually I heard from one friend, he got an email for online test and he was waiting for months since his application. So I think QR is starting to hire again but anyway there are many guys in the talent pool so it is not realistic to expect joining QR in short term except you are type-rated.

I believe that they are definitely hiring, albeit at slower rate than before. I have heard 777 fo's are in high demand.

We are hiring on triple 7, just FOs for the last couple of months and at a much slower pace than in the past. 787 recruitment even slower. Pretty stagnant on Boeing for the time being. We do however have some outstanding 777F deliveries so there is some light at the end of the tunnel :-)

According to planespotters.net , the last 777-300ER has been delivered a few days ago.

There are 3 more 300ERs and 1 777F in the production line.

I hope they will start hiring DECs soon.

Guys,

I don’t understand. I have the Assestment next June 4 and 5. If I pass I would have to wait another year at least. FO Boeing pilots seems to be full so I don’t understand why they continue calling people for the assessments.

Hey Guys,

So I have an offer but somewhere it says about reference from current and previous employer (4 years ago). Current employer is not an issue but previous employer never gave us anything when few of us left so I am not sure if they will withdraw the offer based on this. Has anyone else had similar situation? Is it mandatory to have a reference from a previous employer 4 years ago?

We have 2 destinations for the triple on hold (SFO & LAS) due to the blockade. 4 more T7 freighters coming. Once it ends it will be all systems go again.

It is sensible to have a pool of suitable candidates for when we ramp up recruitment again and to cover internal promotions and natural attrition.

Actually we might use a few more FOs on the Boeing fleet.

Recruitment was stagnant in the last 12 months but it looks like something is moving again.

I hope so because if they are not moving it has no sense to continue recruiting Boeing pilots

A lot of old colleagues are getting joining dates now during 2018, mainly on the 777. Hang in there!
