Going to EK Interview 6ht-8th

Been studies for the interview. Handling the big jet, Ace techincal interview, ABC Emirates Interview. What else trying to get the latest and greatest info. Anybody been recently what can shed some more info. Like Sim profile still in the dark, web sites with numbers of a/c like like of stuff. Any and all info would be great to with other pilot that are going. Please PM me if others or other pilots are going during those dates

What you rellay need to study up on is English, as that is tested now and it looks like you need to. Sorry, nut you asked for addvize!!

It's been covered often here. I'll give a quick run through.

1- Don't bother studying your ass off for the tech quiz. It's about 30 questions, most easy stuff that 90% of it you'll be familiar with. They also leave the room and give you tons of time to finish it (not that anyone would cheat by talking among themselves). It's also not worth that much in terms of evaluating yourself. I really wouldn't spend much time on studying for it.

2- The sim. B777 or A330 if you're flying a similar type you getr what you've been flying if they can fit you in. If you aren't typed on something similar i've heard you can get the A310 as well. Very straight forward profile. You pick left or right seat. Visual circuit in DXB without A/P or A/T or FD. Pick your altitude, do the circuit right or left depending on what seat you picked. Leave yourself some room, do a quick brief to the guy sitting with you (he's helpful as he can be ..ie he'll give you a 500' before call to remind you about thrust etc) but don't expect much else than what you ask for. Ask for a before takeoff checklist and ATC cleareance. Do your circuit as accurately as possible, fly the VASI and correct any offprofile situation.
After the visual circuit you get a 300' ceiling or so with 1KM of vis. YOu get A/T and FD, but no A/P. Brief again, ask for clearance and checklist. Expect a V1 cut right about v1+5-10. They turn off any rudder boost/assist in the B777. FLy your current company procedures that you briefed earlier. Do not try anything other than what you're used to, don't try and implement any Emirates SOP..use your own. Clean it up, complete the checklists (don't expect your copilot to help much, you'll even have to identify your own engine, he'll complete the recalls/memory items). At some point you'll get a clearance to head to the Sharjah VOR and track outbound on some radial. (nearby DXB) ask your copilot to tune it and then head to it, track outbound, don't expect him to do anything other than what you ask for. Shoot the single engine ILS to minimums, S/E go around and cleanup...then they'll basically say that's enough.

NB the sim is on the first day, and is worth alot in teh assesment. If you don't like what's happening, go around, fly the missed. Do not do anything you wouldn't do in a real a/c. YOu can make multiple go arounds and still pass. They want to see good decision making as well as hands and feet.

The rest of the interview over the next 2 days is pretty straight forward. Expect group excersises, a couple psych tests, psych interview, a show and tell of dubai and housing +medical center. The interview itself is very straight forward. They go out of their way to make you feel relaxed. It's more tell us about a time when..get to you know you type of questions. No tech questions at all during the interview. Also the new ICAO english test which is simple as a native english speaker, and getting more difficult the worse your written/oral english sklills are. It's actually hard not to be a smartass as a native english speaker when asked over the phone by a computer in the states somwhere.."What would you use to dig a hole in your backyard?"...was so tempted to say i'd hire a guy with a backhoe and drink a beer on my deck, but managed to refrain with much effort.

Overall its really relaxed and very little studying needed. Come prepared with a suit, and all the paperwork, pictures, photographs ready to go. Other than that be yourself and fly the sim as best you can, and don't push any unstabilized situations. Do that and have fun, it's a decent organized process and can be alot of fun and you get to meet lots of new people.
