Was camping in Wahiba sands a good few years back with the folks when one came nearby off SUR, needless to say half of Wahiba Sands came back with us in the Tojo (Toyota for none Ozzy and Kiwi's ).

Whilst not a regular phenomena, they do during summer get up that way as they bust out of the Sub-Continent monsoon, which is typically caught in the south of Oman Salalah way annually and known locally as the Khareef (spelling not assured!).

Batten down the hatches, global warming is on the way

P.S If you can get to Salalah during the Khareef it is a must do if you live in this region, Oman Air and Jazeera doing packages there...get amongst it

Sounds fantastic.

Think of the swell that's been hitting the beach these last few days as the cyclone approaches.

Shame I'm not there right now.

May there be many more of them, bigger even.

Getting a bit windy here in MCT at the moment although no panic yet. A few of the crew here have gone off to evacuate family from Massirah - anything for a day off!

The Antonov 125 looks nice on the ramp today. Have to see if I can get a closer look at it.

I'm selling umbrellas for only 10 rials - a steal at that price! Right.....I'm off to dig in at the InterCon!

Stay where you are Farrell, it might come bowling past your window tomorrow ... that is if you can get to work with the highway flooded at every wadi crossing!!!

Cut your prices, mate. Gusting at 130kmh is going to ensure they are not in location for long.

Sammi tells me that they have batteries for the torch ... all well and good until the wadi overflows and starts knocking at the garden wall!

There was a GF B767 (GU) that went tech and was sitting outside the hangar yesterday; hope it doesn't get blown away like the rest of the airline. C'mon Naef and Dose; get that task force in to salvage what's left of your fleet.

that 767 departed MCT for India and 1 hour into the flight lost an engine and came back.....they are all falling appart. Lets hope they do that while on the ground.

May God bless Gulf Air.

...Can you say "spell-check"??

Lets hope they do that while on the ground. May God bless Gulf Air.
Look, pal / habibbi / sh!thead... Maybe I'm no longer working with Gulf Air but your weekend-reporter remark needs challenging. ANY aircraft can break. Remember BA operated one of their 747's LAX-LHR via MAN on three engines for part of the flight recently? Remember a JetBlue's A320 had some minor nose-gear issues at LAX recently? Remember Saudi had a 747 ditch-digger in KUL? A Bolivian 727 settled over on one wing as one of the MLG collapsed while taxiing at Buenos Aires... NEED MORE???

Gulf Air, Ryan Air, Mr. Patel's Air.... THINGS HAPPEN! Don't go all Student-Pilot over things going on. They are just as safe as the next place.

</rant>

Meanwhile, I bet there is one hell of a crew party going on in MCT tonight! HANG ON, FOLKS!

Most, if not all night departures from Muscat to the Sub Continent have been cancelled.

Apparently they are flying all aircraft out of Muscat until the situation gets better.

flights to/from MCT

I noticed on aims there were no flights to from MCT today ? is it because of the bad weather in the area or is GF finally winding down operations from MCT as a result of separating from oman ?
