Emirates Pilot Medical Certificates
Does anyone who works at Emirates as a Pilot know if Emirates requires an FAA medical to work there *OR* do they have their own "in house" medical doctors certifying you every so often. My question...

One of the requirements for admission is to bring a valid ICAO/FAA/JAR first class medical; then, you will have to pass a GCAA medical with one of the EK certified AME. If successful (almost everybody is), you will receive a GCAA medical certificate to fly a UAE registered aicraft.

emirates and cholestrol
Does anyone here know anything about cholestrol and passing emirates medical??
My cholestrol is around 220 and i have been taking approved cholestrol leveling medication.
With medication, my cholestrol is around 146. My BMI is below 30.

Could someone recommend a couple of doctors in Dubai/Sharjah who could be termed as more lineant during medicals...I found a doctor at Royal hospital Sharjah a bit difficult.Thanks

Having medical revoked.
Hi guys, not my question this one but would appreciate any insight. Colleague of mine is about to go through the application process for EK. About a year ago he had to have his medical taken off him for about 2 weeks while he had some tests. All tests came back perfectly normal and he immediately got his medical back and has been back flying ever since without any problem or the likelihood of any problem for that matter. No limitations or anything like that on his medical (JAR Class 1)
He was asking me as he knows I'm keen on the EK gig too what I knew about medical standards for applying and whether that would prevent him moving forward with the application.
I know sweet FA about medical matters and so turn it over it to you guys for enlightenment.

Doesn't sound like a problem. The GCAA medical standard is roughly equivelent to JAR. If he can hold a Class 1 elswhere with no problems, it should be ok.

Thanks Wiz. I thought that might be the case but never knew for sure. I was thinking it may be along the lines similar to if you've had an incident/accident and that scars you for life in some quaters.

I don't fly for EK, but do have a GCAA licence and medical. I came here last year and fully admitted to having a family history but proved (by letter) that I had been fully investigated by the UK CAA to be fine, no limitations. That was fine for my UAE company CMO/AME and I got the job.
However, 2 months in to the job, the GCAA insisted I undergo similar tests as in the UK. All is fine and I eventually got the licence, albeit after being "medically suspended" for 6 weeks (nothing happens quickly here).
Moral of the story: the EK AMEs might be satisfied with your previous results and offer you the job, but that doesn't necessarily mean you get a licence without further specialist tests. If in doubt, ask about getting the GCAA Class 1 certificate before accepting the job.

I hope this isnt off subject, but does anyone know if you must be married to list a 'spouse' for medical benefits (which I understand are not much compared to employee), could this be a fiancee? I wonder the same for annual passes home, ID90s. I have a very signifigant gf, but were not married... Thanks.

I don't work in the UAE. However, based on what I know about the GCC countries, cohabitation is not permitted. So I think the answer to your question will be yes, you have to be married to your partner in order to enlist her for medical benefits! For the tickets issue, it varies from one company to another.

fredsmith, I suggest you make your very significant girlfriend, into your very signicant wife, before you come down. You'll find life alot easier for both of you.
As a girlfriend she gets no recognition from the company or anyone. She'd be a tourist, unless she lines up her own job down here.
