Pay rise at QR

I hear that the QR peeps are getting a pay rise. 6,000 QAR? That should give them almost enough to rent a villa

I know AAB has been warned by his HR dept that we are in the middle of a recruitment crisis as far as dek crew is concerned....

But wether that will be enough to wake these guys up I have no idea...It seems that they still believe in the tales that we have enough crews around.

Time to wake up boys: EK, CX, SIA and most other majors are struggling to crew their planes.

A rescent report talks about an ABSOLUTE PILOT VACUUM within 5 years. They even talk about salaries on the same level as the old CX A scale. Remember, those boys retired with 4 million GBP on their bank account!!!

They talk about extreme inventiveness by companies recruiting in order to attract pilots such as flexible rosters, comuting contracts, etc etc etc...

So wake up boys.....6000QR is not going to do the trick! Qatar stays a boring place to live so if you want a pilot to choose between singapore or Hong Kong and Qatar, making the same money bit a better life style, you better start pulling all your tricks out of your sleeve...

Otherwise, QR will be forgotten within 10 years....

Hmm, gents you're just tingling the most sensitive nerve. While some of us might dream of a pay rise may I remind all of us that not even the promised provident fund has been established yet. Any employer must equalize the wages level with the current inflation rate last year it was almost 9%. Talking about buying power it got less at the rate of 9 % driven mainly by rent prices and petrol prices. A liter of super almost doubled during the last two years although still reasonable compared to EU. As long as I've flown around 900 hours a year it did make sense financially. Anything below 70 hours a month doesn't look that attractive any more, which is the case on the 346 fleet for the time being. Hopefully it will get better. Pay rise?-only if stuck in absolute shortage, I'd guess.
Cheers.

Pass it on........

I am glad that someone else sees it as I do. Merci Monsieur. A friend of mine conducted a straw poll of different Company policies to allowances. No disrespect to any of the trades/professions mentioned. Construction Supervisor ~ Housing 14,000 QR. A Journo ~ Villa in Bev Hill + utilities. Office worker QP ~ Housing 9,700 QR. Office worker (Auditor) ~ Housing 11,000 QR. Shipping supervisor ~ Housing 15,000 QR plus water, elec, phone, ADSL, School fees for all children, and 3,000 QR food allowance + 10,000 QR bonus PA. These are the allowances of Mid level supervisors/ Office workers. A pay rise of 6,000 QR for us would be too much, though 20% on the basic plus 6,000 QR increase on the housing allowance would be realistic.

i may just add that today in QR a CSD is making more or less the same money as an F/O and this due to the housing problem..
IS this normal....?

A CSD can make 14000...QR/month+ nice accomodation(ok it sounds to be more and more like a jail, but this is another problem..).

Today a F/O who may join the company will make...28000..30000QR/month total.Half of it will go for sure for renting a villa today in Doha!

So the difference is....

Man, if you look at this from that perspective this is really bad!

It is true that everybody is feeling it in his wallet these days and that buying power has been significantly educed over the last months but still, as a human being, you tend to just get on with your life.

But once you start thinking of it it is really bad...especially when you look at the salaries being offered elsewhere..

I hope our beloved management wakes up in time because otherwise this just might be the final kill of QR!

On another note, internal auditting has finally started and so far all departments failed miserably just in complying with the own QCAR regs...no wonder the states and OZ do not allow us in untill now!

When Qr will start to invest in people(and respect them) then maybe we will end up with something else than only shiny aircraft and "shiny" first class service!!
Cheers!

I heard some rumors of a possible payrise as well but nobody knows how much when and the most important who will decide about it. Strong rumors are in the air our "beloved" CEO is counting last days in QR. Apparently there's already a successor just getting to grips with the airline.
Inshala!!!

Most certainly QAR will have to to do something since DEC story has been revitalized again. Poor copilots you just have been screwed once again. That promise didn't last long though. Funny enough instead to drop that ridiculous 3 years rule QR start to hire DEC again. Some people never learn. I'd be excited to see how many will go this time.
See ya.
