Passenger List Gulf Air accident - Scam warning!!!!!!!

Could anybody please send me a link to the passenger-list of the Gulf Air A320 Crash in August 2000?
Apparantly, I had distant family members on the aircraft according to a barrister from Malaysia...

Thank you,

Despegue

Don't know where the pax list is, but a couple former BAH residents I am in contact with have recieved e-mails requesting their personal data and that a law firm needs those details to disburse personal estates as immediate family members are not available for this, and offering a percentage of the "take". If this is happening to you...it might be an identity theft scam...caution!!!!

just got the email..

Hey guys,
Well after many years of reading and watching PPRune, I have decided to make my first post..
Anyways, I just received the email from "Malaysia" that someone with my last name lost his entire family in the Gulf Air crash and now he has passed on and the "solicitor" requests to use my name to get the payout from the bank..a big number.... if i provide my name, i will get a precntage of the cut..
I called the number, but the gentleman I spoke to did not have the accent of a Malay, nor arab..given the name on the email..
How on earth do they get our contact info??? Because I called, he has my number on his phone now..

This is NO JOKE guys, its actually kind of scary when you think about it..
Just passing on the info to you all.

Never mind the identity theft, only one poster has mentioned the word SCAM. Ninety nine point nine per cent, 99.9% chance this is a scam and probably mentioned somewhere on the below site.
http://www.scam.com/index.php?

It is also happening with the Concorde crash.

update..

ok guys.. got a phone call and another email from this clown..im not sure but this i think may be serious..

the second email involves the "procedures to follow", including scanning my i.d., and forwarding bank info for verification???? and then the "money will follow" once that is done..

so my guess is either as you all have agreed, a scam..or worse is the identity theft which would be quite serious.. and seeing that for some reason alot of us in aviation are getting the same email, is there something more here than we know???

I recently changed my email because of spam. I also applied to Gulf Air, and then only a few weeks later I got this email on my new email address.

I've chosen to ignore it!

hmm... yup looks like the people involded with this email had at some point connexions with GF ... to be continued.. but caution cause it doesn't make any sense to get so many people in the loop specially when u're trying to make that kind of arrangement .. i think..

Thumbs down

Despegue, you little @rse!
To enquire openly on PPrune over an issue that professionals treat with utmost care is both inconsiderate and unacceptable.
Information for the GF 072, can be obtained at many sources on the net,I do not think this is the apporpriate time to be asking for such info, nor is it the right forum.
If your greediness supercedes your common sense and any respect for your professional brethern and the memory of those who are no longer with us; then I susggest you go bounty hunting in locations that deserve individuals like you, say Iraq for example...where every dollar bill comes with its equivalent weight in lead and sympathy.
I would love to have you fly with me to lagos, where I could give you some directions into the main city!!
I think it says enough about what i think of you and any other who wants to take advantage of others' miseries and disgruntle the professional image they've been trying so hard to keep.
So long!

It's obviously a scam, it has scam written all over it. It's an old and tired identity theft scam... nothing new. I also got the same email yesterday. I have no connection to Bahrain, never been there and never applied at any airline in that area. They got our names with matching emails from somewhere (not hard to do), either it's a widespread enough of a scam that so many of us here just happen to get hit or it's because of something we all have in common like being registered here at prrune. Whatever you do DO NOT REPLY... DO NOT TAKE THE BAIT, if what they have on you was enough to pull their scam (identity theft) they wouldn't be asking for more info... so don't worry about what they already have on you. Use a proxy, a firewall, run your anti-virus, multiple spyware/adware checks regularly specially after opening any such suspicious emails.

Read the post again. The risk is IDENTITY THEFT!

If you give these jokers your photocopied ID and details of your bank account then they will empty that account.
They will open other accounts in your name and take mortgages/loans/credit cards which YOU will be liable for.

That's for starters. They may also get passports/visas (don't ask me how but they can).

They send out thousands of these emails and it only takes one gullible idiot replying to make it worth their while. STAY WELL CLEAR!

Probably a copycat group modelling themselves on the 419 Nigerian scams. Big word of caution. These people, if it is them, will take more than just your identity. But for a good laugh goto www.419eater.com

Dont do it!!!

Igor, do listen to what has been said.. DO NOT, once again DO NOT give any more info to these people.. they are contacting us all for whatever reason..I have now received ANOTHER email from my "new friend" as he puts it requesting an answer from me..I agree, the FBI wont do anything as they are overloaded but the other website which was mentioned is the one to forward the email and any other info you have.. This clown actually has called me (my own fault for not blocking my number) and now continues to try..

Ready, you are right...the initials are the same..its the same guy..and no he is not from Malaca, Malaysia i can promise that..

stay safe guys..
