From Emirates To Qatar Airways
hi
i just resigned from Emirates worked there as airport services agent with over 6 years experience in customer service field.
Now shortlisted by Qatar Airways as senior Airport services Agent and will conduct an interview soon .
Just give me some clues about what the salary will looks like and the if the backage including accomidation or only allowance for it.
If Doha is good like Dubai.
Thanks in Advance

Well.
I surely cannot comment with regards to any information on a Ground staff position, as i'm part of the complement of Flying operators within the Airline.
I can however comment on Doha vs Dubai... now to start with i'm not a fan of DXB.. does not really appeal to me. yes I know it's a better place to Party maybe.. better resturants and other social activities, but, the fact remains that I like Doha better.. mainly for it's small town social atmosphere. Yes this can be a bit trying on ones patients with regards to the road conditions and driving, but it's not all to be blamed on the Locals or local culture. as everyone knows that all the other expats in this country are also to blame.. me being no different.
it's one of the safest places that I have ever lived .. if you can deal with the culture of waiting until tomorrow for everything and Inshala generally means NO or It Won't Happen.. then it's not a big deal.
come with an open mind,, be receptive to changes good or bad.. know that the goal posts will always change positions.. and your In
easy as that.
Ciao

Hi Capt Krunch,
Thank u for ur reply, the good one within the post.
you gave me a good impression about Doha .I love it to be like that cause Dubai is very crowdy and very Expensive to live. From my point of view and as you said Doha is better.
So New destination New Start.

Doha facts
Hi Saif
I agree to what Capt Krunch is saying but i think Capt Krunch need to know some ground realities.
Since he is a captain , he is having good perks and a good standard of living.
And as you want to join as an agent , your salary will be around 5000 QAR +/-.
Definately you will not be getting any kind of accomadation from qatar airways.
I just want to highlight some realities living in Doha.
1. Finding a decent place to live is now impossible in doha , if there is it is very expensive which you cannot afford.
2. Because of this asian games , doha is getting crowed , traffic jams are very offen.
3. Caps are expensive too.Local taxi is now very rarely you can get.
4. To bring your family is again very deficult to live in doha.
5. And to work in Qatar Airways , you will be in lot of pressure and will be assigned shift wise office hrs.
6. And to have experience like 6 years in Emirates , definately you will regret your decision to join Qatar Airways
7. Chances of getting sacked is very high in qatar airways at any point of time.
8. Sorry to say at any point of time airport is a zoo.
9. I dont agree doha is safe any more.
10. Doha Police is one of the worst police to handle
11. Govt officials are very rude. You can find racial discrimination
12. And there are many more you will come to know after joining qatar airways.

What amazes me the most is to see such comments. No one forces anyone to stay in places they dont like, you dont like the place you live in just leave, or oh ya i forgot if you where able to get a job back home like the one you have there then you wouldnt be there to start with. So at least id say show some respect to the country that took you in.
Peace and Love !!!

Fair Enough
busdriver22 I agree with you 100%, I think what you said applies also on loc22550's bitter comment.
As for living in doha, the cost of living in is still lower than Dubai.

Dear Bath (I mean Baas), crtiticizing Qatar Airways and even the government is included under the freedome of speech, stating that " Qatari's are the most cowardly people" and people includes all men, women and childrens of Qatar, that is definitely called racisim.

.....discrimination against or antagonism towards other races!

I really wonder when people learn the differences between racism:
Any action, practice, or belief that reflects the racial worldview-the ideology that humans are divided into separate and exclusive biological entities called “races,” that there is a causal link between inherited physical traits and traits of personality, intellect, morality, and other cultural behavioral features, and that some “races” are innately superior to others.
and
humiliation:
A lowering in or deprivation of character or self-esteem: abasement, debasement, degradation, mortification. See respect/contempt/standing, win/lose/recovery.
Loss of or damage to one's reputation: bad name, bad odor, discredit, disgrace, dishonor, disrepute, ignominy, ill repute, obloquy, odium, opprobrium, shame. See respect/contempt/standing.
No political agenda intended.
Cheers.

mr doha get a life. every one has a right to speak his/her mind in a free society . since you are grinding your teeth i guess what caps is saying is true and it is not allowed in qr.
i spent 3 days in doha to assess since i had the job offer , what i found was .1. could not convert travellers cheques. 2. traffic was an issue but its the same all over the world. 3. people are nice if you are nice.3 the govt machinery is very non cooperative. 4. the banks are not people friendly.5 cops i heard were racist.6 . the house rents have gone through the roof.
7 hence the cost of living has gone up.8.mr bakar exist.
needless to say i didnt take the job.

You whant us to believe that during your 3 interview days stay in Doha you were able to get all the above facts about living in Qatar, how strange, where did you find the time to experience all the above, and one more thing: why this negative attitude towards the people ho offered you a job (unless you failed the interview my friend, which could explain your stated sentiments

ANYone could discover all of the points that "willfly380" found in a three-day visit to Doha themselves. I would go further to add that three HOURS would suffice to find the listed items! You're fooling yourself if you think the opposite. I do think the drivers are far worse than you thought, though, willfly380. Regardless, it was a good choice to steer clear of Doha. You will, inshaaaalaah, fly the 380 somewhere, though, if perserverance plays into your cards. Good luck.
kama123in also mentioned many valid points about the place. Reasonable assesment on all counts.
It's pretty sad how the good attitudes that worked for generations have gotten blended, spiced up and SCREWED up by the Nouveau Riche (thanks, Google). It's pretty bad... YES there are great people in the region, but those who are bad are TERRIBLY bad, and they completely destroy it for everyone else. ...Shame it wasn't still the little village it once was, sometimes. These comments would fit for almost all of Qatar's neighbors, too. But with some 80+ high-rises "rising up" there over the next few years, it's doubtful the general low level of attitudes will rise along with the building levels!
Looking a few short years ahead, the Nouveau Riche Power Rangers who head off in their Civilian Tanks (Hummers, Land Cruisers, etc) over to the R & R Island (Bahrain) will certianly screw things up even more so there once the new causeway is built. (What will they call that new one, by the way...Johnny Walker Bridge II??) The influx from The Bigger Kingdom to The Littler Kingdom on the weekends makes for interesting driving, etc, there...imagine when the JWB II is completed?! Madness, I tell ya...MADNESS! Pity for those living there now, though, let alone THEN!
Mr Saif, best of luck if you are headed to Doha. You will soon realize: Glitz and Glam on the outside, ROTTEN to the (Snakbar) Core on the inside...
(I really wonder WHO "willfly380" since the T & C's there are absolute bolly-woks, anyway!!)
Cheers,
R.D.
