ANYone could discover all of the points that "willfly380" found in a three-day visit to Doha themselves. I would go further to add that three HOURS would suffice to find the listed items! You're fooling yourself if you think the opposite. I do think the drivers are far worse than you thought, though, willfly380. Regardless, it was a good choice to steer clear of Doha. You will, inshaaaalaah, fly the 380 somewhere, though, if perserverance plays into your cards. Good luck.
kama123in also mentioned many valid points about the place. Reasonable assesment on all counts.
It's pretty sad how the good attitudes that worked for generations have gotten blended, spiced up and SCREWED up by the Nouveau Riche (thanks, Google). It's pretty bad... YES there are great people in the region, but those who are bad are TERRIBLY bad, and they completely destroy it for everyone else. ...Shame it wasn't still the little village it once was, sometimes. These comments would fit for almost all of Qatar's neighbors, too. But with some 80+ high-rises "rising up" there over the next few years, it's doubtful the general low level of attitudes will rise along with the building levels!
Looking a few short years ahead, the Nouveau Riche Power Rangers who head off in their Civilian Tanks (Hummers, Land Cruisers, etc) over to the R & R Island (Bahrain) will certianly screw things up even more so there once the new causeway is built. (What will they call that new one, by the way...Johnny Walker Bridge II??) The influx from The Bigger Kingdom to The Littler Kingdom on the weekends makes for interesting driving, etc, there...imagine when the JWB II is completed?! Madness, I tell ya...MADNESS! Pity for those living there now, though, let alone THEN!
Mr Saif, best of luck if you are headed to Doha. You will soon realize: Glitz and Glam on the outside, ROTTEN to the (Snakbar) Core on the inside...
(I really wonder WHO "willfly380" since the T & C's there are absolute bolly-woks, anyway!!)
Cheers,
R.D.
