Devil 1 post.. hmmm

BUGGEROFF: Thing is mate, we live here, maybe you do too - and I expect most like myself, don't really care too much for the latest new "decrees" heard on the radio, or the laws they state but never enforce, or even what the "government" decides to do and then forget about when it suits them. Sounds cynical? - of course it does, but that's the way it is here, and we accept it.

However, at the very least the Govt can tell people what is happening - in a country where something like 68% of the population is non-Bahraini, it's the least that one can expect from the powers that be - wouldn't you think?

Yes we all make choices to live in countries other than where we were born, and we live by the rules of our chosen place of domicile, however, the very least we could expect is a little info as to what will be happening... remember, Bahrain is a "democracy" nowadays... well, on paper at least!!

Rant over, awaiting a suitably chastising reply from Mr Buggeroff.

Cheers.

Ramadan for Westerners

Yes it's irritating, yes it's a pain in the arse for smokers (damn it's hard!), but one thing I noticed was that One TV didn't show a single advertisement during the entire month of Ramadan last year. That's gotta be a good thing! Weirder still, I didn't notice until it was over and the ads started up again.

Also, our bars were open for business (evenings only) for the first time ever - but there was no music. Hey, good enough!

UAE population is 80% expat, but a hell of a lot of those expats are sub-continental Muslims, so I reckon we pagan / heathen / infidel / agnostic / atheistic types are still well outnumbered.
