Ramadan for Westerners
Yes it's irritating, yes it's a pain in the arse for smokers (damn it's hard!), but one thing I noticed was that One TV didn't show a single advertisement during the entire month of Ramadan last year. That's gotta be a good thing! Weirder still, I didn't notice until it was over and the ads started up again.
Also, our bars were open for business (evenings only) for the first time ever - but there was no music. Hey, good enough!
UAE population is 80% expat, but a hell of a lot of those expats are sub-continental Muslims, so I reckon we pagan / heathen / infidel / agnostic / atheistic types are still well outnumbered.
