Saudi CAA Certificate issue

I read on a thread that The Saudi government may issue their own flight crew licenses as opposed to the usage of FAA tickets.

Does anyone care to add some light in this matter Or any update. It will be most appreciated. Perhaps MUTT knows???

Thanks,
jones

They started issuing their own RATINGS last year due to difficulties with the FAA process, however recent events have shown that they cant issue LICENCES....

They are working on it. The PCA recently changed to the DGAC (I think) and were expected to publish ICAO compliant air law. However there isnt an examination structure in place, 1 guy is presently in the situation where he arrived with ICAO licence, FAA writtens, attended full B747 training course and was about to receive the final DGAC checkride when the discussion regarding his licence came about. AFAIK, he is still waiting!

For anyone attending the Saudia interviews in Feb, this is worth asking about.

Cheers.

I understand the problem may have been sorted out as this person is scheduled for his PCA check in the coming days.
Several new hires in training now behind him in the same situation.
