Fuel price up by 32% in UAE
At midnight tonight UAE residents will be paying 32% more for petrol and diesel.
From 7 Days newspaper:
It then goes on to say how good we still have it because other countries pay (UK is mentioned) a lot more for thier fuel. Well excuse me for noticing, but in most other countries people don't have an oil puddle under their back yard!
All those thinking about a move this way, get out those calculators and run your figures again! The cost of living is rocketing around here and salaries are simply not keeping up.

You can't "black out" the windows on a camel or flash it's headlights on the highway when trying to overtake other camels by way of the emergency lane.

LETS LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE, 32% INCREASE IN THE FUEL PRICE DOES NOT REALLY MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE, SO OK IT WAS 50 DHS ODD TO FILL YOUR CAR UP AND NOW ITS GOING TO COST YOU 67DHS ODD(10 QUID). IS THAT REALLY GOING TO HURT THAT MUCH..,..... DOUBT IT!!!!!!!!! LETS HOPE THE BEER DOES NOT GO UP OVER NIGHT THE SAME. THAT REALLY WOULD BE A DISASTER..

If you drive a Daihatsu (sp?) Micro and you're not on Dhs1200.- a month I guess it won't make much of a difference.
In the same way that a 32% increase wouldn't make a BIG difference if you drank 1 beer a week!

Everything is going up in Dubai and going up fast. This is most probably the result of the falling dollar but not to be discounted is the greed that goes on in this part of the world. When most industries are a monopoly there is no ceiling to the rapidily rising rates and no competition to hold down prices. Welcome to the middle east!
