I suspect your use of the word 'greener' was rather carefully considered, 'coolcaper'.

I've heard that one of the very big bosses from MAS came visiting DXB a day or two ago and invited all the ex-MAS engineers along for tea and bikkies. (An offer, I understand, to borrow a phrase from Mario Puzo, that "could not be refused" by any Malaysian who might want to go home one day.)

I understand he offered them a 60% pay rise [ that's SIXTY PERCENT!!!] and (I think) some sort of preferential choice of station.

Have yet to hear how the offer was received.

Guys, apparently the MAS team has come down to select anyone wanting to join MAS, not only the malaysians. And a pretty good package is being offered as well. All happening in the next couple of days and from rumours going around there have been a lot of applications. All goes to show how well EK is being run! Well all I can say is good luck to AAR and his team!!

Good for you!

Maybe when there are a few shiny B777-300 ER's parked with no-one to fly them or fix them AAR will get the message.

Absolutley Amazing!!!

How can one man run two key departments into the ground so quickly and effectivley..... and SIMULTANEAOUSLY, and still keep his job?

If you or I did our job 10% as badly as AAR does his, we would have a bunch of unwell passengers and a big hole in the ground! Not to mention we would also wear the result personally! I guess the motivation is different if you can watch from afar?

Good luck to our peers in Engineering: I wish them all the best!! We in Ops don't appreciate how badly they've been treated. I guess what goes around, comes around, eh? About time... remember some saying about, reaping what one sows?

Talking Tit For Tat?

I really can't comprehend MAS mismanagers. On one hand they entice the engineers to come back & work with MAS at expat pay (even though they are locals ) & another Mismanager won't pay a single cent more to stop the exodus of pilots to the middle east carriers.

I guess this is their way of saying 'up yours EK !' after approaching EK's management to stop the 'pinching' of MAS's pilots & rightfully being told that the pilots 'applied willingly'.

Indeed market forces have spoken & it is a good omen that our engineering brothers are finally getting their due

Was talking to a very senior EK Line Eng the other morning. They have just been given a pay rise. 800 Dhs per month, regardless of length of service. That is the same as 1.5% for a senior eng with dual type rating.
Yes , he said the MAS blokes are going home in droves, and taking existing EK Eng with them. MAS was also in SIN with the same offer and took quite a few from there.
I think it is now plain which airline has figured it out first. Maybe the others will follow

Singleseater, are you sure, as 800dhs= 1.5% would be a salary of approx 53000dhs per month

Fart Master. What they have done in the past is to declare a percentage payrise across the board, this time say 7%. This is a dirham amount calculated for the guy at the lowest end of the incremental scale and added here as 7% of his basic. That same amount is then added to all grades right to the guy with the longest time in grade. This, in this case, is about 3.7%. Great deal eh ?

SQ are also on the look out for Engineers for their build up to A380 ops. HAECO in Hong Kong has ongoing recruitment, if you like a very busy working day!!!! It looks like Engineers with experience/type ratings are starting to be in demand, lets hope this drives the wages up a bit (or a lot!!).

As one of the guys who went and sat down for the MAS interviews the underlying tone of the day was "When can you start?"

Fair enough it might not suit everyone with regards to the family package and everything but the only thing that needs to be paid out of your monthly salery is you accomodation. Speaking to a few of the Malaysian boys at work you can do very nicely for 2500 Ringget/Dirham (practically the same) per month.

This leaves me with a 35% pay rise. Yes you read correctly 35%

Only thing to that is "Where is my contract?"

Discovered Enough!

... So with all that extra salery does that mean we at last get a decent standard of living and no more DHS 24 a scoup at eejoolies ?

The wheel, she is turning........................
Good luck to those of you who decide to take this offer. At the end of the day, one has to look after themselves and their families future - 35% is rather a large chunk towards that. For those who go.. you will be sorely missed, but good luck to you, boys. From one of those who appreciate what you do.
Cheers

MAS velly clever they have been around a bit and know what they want!

What a brain drain EK's BEST Licenced Aircraft Engineer's on the move with years off professional integrity accountability and experience under their belt!

Who keeps them Safely up in the Air and on Schedule?

Not your green boys who leave bits of wood in them stuck together with tiger tape!!!! (And they got let off)!!!!!!!!!!

EK "Management" pull your fingers out and get out of your silk suits and get on the Line!

Pay Peanuts get __________?

What would the 'BOSS" say if he knew what was really happening?

Sad times aye!

Rumour has it MAS are offering $ 9,000 a month all in! (A Lot less than what EK's Pile's get plus plus with all the perks).

Why is there such a pay difference between Pile & Eng?

When Charlie Chan finds out they will work your balls off!

Will they give you a mechanic with a Tool box?

Still it must be better than the view of a power station from a 2,000,000 AED apartment on the Marina!

Rumour has it the MAS pilots have been given a pay-rise to stop the exodus to the ME.

Anyone know anything more?

Pink Baron, there's a pilot vs engineer battle raging on the engineer forum, it should feed your infantile needs and insecurities about pilots. Why don't you go hang out over there?

Talking

No, my ex colleagues informed me that the offer falls way short of expectations (unlike MAS motto's "Going Beyond Expectations" ).

The rumour is that the Toad is asking the pilots to bust the normal CAA limits & fly 900 hours stick time! As it is they have a superman list at crewing to call for flights where other pilots have refused due to high hours.Don't be surprised if the same skipper who came in from LHR in the morning will operate the night flight back to LHR!Hmmmm I wonder whether CAA UK would like to drop in & pat DCAM's back for sleeping on the job!

Expect the exodus to continue......as long as the toad is in charge with his mismanagers
