QR A330 D/E Capt. Conditions POOR!

I have put in an application but trying to get more info is hard. I had this info passed to me second hand by a friend.

IS IT TRUE...

...that you pay your expensive housing, water, power and 50% of expensive school fees FROM a total package of qr24900? thats now less than eur5950 or cad9180.
what does a villa cost to rent? i have wife, 3 children. it says that qr7500 is the average for villa then you need furnish?

...that the per diems are qr10/hr? thats now only eur2.40. do you find you are spending more of your salary on nightstops for food/phone/laundry etc?

...that the is no pension plan, is there any annual incrument or annual bonus?

...that the training bonds are NON-Reducing/not pro-rata?
dont they get the CCQ for free from airbus anyway!
how much are the bonds?

...that the Manila flights is 10hrs flt/1200hrs duty then only 1200 hrs rest at the hotel before returning? but still only 2 crew

...that you can be rostered and do often get to finnish at midnight before your single "day off" and then start at 0600 early morn the following day?

...that its always hard to get ANY requested dates off, or even get a couple of "your own RDO's" blocked together?

Please say if you know for sure details, no time for rubbish.

also Info on 330 Capt conditions at Gulfair,Etihard,Emirates and Chinaair if you have???

tks

I can also confirm that what you have heard is the truth. When will they ever learn that this is a grossly insufficient package!!!!

That does appear to be occuring. Despite what management want you to believe, they are having trouble filling all the slots.

Danger All the same

How much are Canadian carriers paying these days? Or perhaps we should make an exception for every expat who scratches his head when he needs money and heads down here? It' s too hard already with all the hungry jacks that are already here when all they do is take, take, take.

It's a business mate and all things said all of you expats only think of yourselves, while you tolerate your hosts. Wake up and smell the coffee!

So where are all those ideals of democracy that the majority sports when talking of their own countries and that you try to shove down our throats.

I think you've been let down, and it's not the Arabs, why blame them if they want to run a business? if conditions are so bad in Canada, why should they be any better here?

It is maybe time we rid ourselves of this colonial attitude!

Did not really understand your rantings and ravings Baglama. Calm down and take a breath.

I was not trying to offend any one, just explaining the facts.

@ Baglama

Maybe you don´t know, but the locals are complaining too. It´s not only the expats. You talk about the "hungry jacks". For example: You guys spend your housing for the loan you have on your house. I spend it to pay my landlord. Why? I´m not entitled to buy a house - and by the way - I´m not interested.

You take about, that expats only think of themselves. My civilization is more that 1000 years old. With unions, social systems and million things more. What do you have? I only see locals for themselves, not for his mate. Of course we are here to work and earn money. On the other side - are you able "to run a business" without us? I don´t think so!!!!

Maybe you are right with: "It is maybe time we rid ourselves of this colonial attitude!", but who will wash your car and dishdash, run your supermarket, build your house, .................... Or are the expats for US 250/month welcome?

That was well said i agree with u.

We really need to get rid of this colonial attitude.

For guys out there who think you are underpaid or u are not treated equally as the local you are working beside with,
i say, dont have high hopes mate. Stop complaining and go back to your country. You should not have left in the first place.

Remember this is not your airline nor your country, if u dont like it leave. And think before u join any whereelse because you will be treated the same there.

See this is the problem.

We have to fly with people like you (wilco77) and we feel we need a better deal.
The other problem is you change the rules. We come here thinking one thing and then to find out its all changed.

Thats all!

Laura!
If u had not come here u would not have to fly with guys like me in the first place. We dont need u, there are plenty out there that we can get dont worry.
Like i said this is our airline, country and culture dont come and try and change it nor try and bad mouth it just because u did not get what u thought u would or dreamed about.

Go back to ur country and fly i am sure there are many airlines out there that pay better with better quality of living....

MY QUESTION IS :

WHY STAY HERE? GO!!!

Well, Wilco77...a bit harsh, but I agree with you in the sense that if Laury doesn't like it then she should leave. Nobody is forcing her to stay.

Laury, I also agree with your point on the changes that have and are constantly being made in QR. Shocking.

The locals will always get their way as it is "their" airline, howver no thanks is ever given to the other nationalities that helped build QR into a decent outfit in many ways...pity about the CEO and the poor Management team...

Even things like changing the hotel in TRV because some of the local flight deck didn't like it. No consultations with anyone else...just a direct complaint by several of them to the then GMFO DF. The GMFO delayed as much as possible, but of course eventually he too had to admit defeat...

So, Laury that is the way it is and always will be. Nothing like it at EK and don't know about GF. But you are right...the attitude of some of the Flight Deck stinks!

Wilco77...talking of dreams...it was mine to see QR succeed and it has to an extent...I saw the earlier product and witnessed MANY changes... but it will never reach the dizzy heights possible until AAB and certain members of the Management team have gone elsewhere. Plus, as long as some of the locals continue to try and rule purely by the fact that they are local..things will never be harmonious.

Homesick Rae,
You are right. I should leave. Well I have!
Wilco77,
I never said anything about trying to change YOUR airline. Its just that the goal posts change.
I will tell you one thing. You may be proud of your airline and not think that you need outside help. The truth is you do need outside help and the truth is your airline would never survive in the REAL world. You are in a false economy. And that is why you have a job! And people like you could never get a job where I come from but we can get a job where you come from. Think about it.

Laury!
There is nothing to think about, i agree we wont get a job from where u come from.
In the first place we are not the ones wanting jobs in your country, this topic is about my country, my airline, where u were working or maybe still working and u are working here because YOU ARE THE ONE WHO CANT CANT A JOB IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY(Now thats bad). And i bet if u have left this airline you are still not in your own country working.
So think first before posting something because whatever u were complaining about in QR you are doing it again on PPRUNE!!

Its really sad. Go back home i know you miss home.
OH! But too bad they wont hire u there..

Oil and the gracious American protection of defenceless Qataris the only reason you have a job. But don't thank me, thank the President.

Good insight into the Qatar Airway Flight Deck culture.

Question for WILCO77 ??

If you are so proud of your country and your airline, then why does your profile state "ALASKA"?? Seems to me you have a hidden desire to be from the good old USA!

Attitudes like yours are why guys like you are so dangerous.
That is why you need to have outside help.
I hope that when you are flying you leave that attitude behind because you sound very scary.
I bet you would also be opposed to help or advice on the flight deck.
Once again have a think about it. Read the previous posts and take a deep breath of fresh air because we all know what happened up the road.
