Wait until EASA Class 1 is in place?

Hi Guys,

Thinking of heading over to Gatwick to do the Initial CAA Class 1 Medical end of June as I've found cheap flights. But I see that from the 1st of July the CAA will begin issuing the EASA medical. Should I wait until July to head over and do it or will the medical be automatically transferred over to an EASA Class 1 anyway?

Thanks in advance,
Jack

As I understand it, your certificate will be counted as equivalent to EASA automatically starting from the July 1st, but the new certificate (paper) you will receive only on renewal. So basically it is only whether you want an old or a new paper
