There is an absolutely brilliant open forum American site, called AAPOS. Although a site primarily for paediatric strabismus, there are ALL kinds of eye problems on this - some you've never heard of, which are answered and debated over by the professionals, (one of whom I believe is ex forces, and a pilot). They have just put this years' information into the 2000 database. (The archives go from pre 1/1/97 to 2000).

Best of luck

Sorry - not up to scratch on eye doc's ...I raised the point because I dug around in a medical library at a hospital and found (purely by chance) a journal written by an aviation medical specialist who was also an oncologist. His journal helped me regain my medical. I used his findings to illustrate precedent.
It sounds as though firedragon has got a useful line of investigation to follow. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, but wish you well.
