Question Kidney Transplants regarding Class 1 medicals ?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with trying to obtain a CAA Medical having had a Kidney Transplant?
With-out wanting to bore you all I held in the past a Class 2 Medical, but unfortunetly lost it due to total Kidney failure last year.
I fortunetley had a transplant 1 x year ago and am about to re-apply initially for a Class 2.
Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to apply for a Class 1 Medical, having had a Transplant?

I think the best thing to do is to talk to CAA (I presume you're in the UK). Their Medical Division's phone number is 01293 573686. I found them very helpful.

Thanks for your kind responce, I have already spoken to the CAA, but was curious to see if anyone else had gone through a similar exsperience as myself.
Since I held my Medical (Class 2) they still had the Class 1,2 and 3 standards and since it has changed I was just wondering what would happen as I would like to instruct and that throws a different light on my situation?

A good friend went to get his PPL medical after a kidney transplant in Oz. IT isn't the procedure that is a hassle it often is the medication that can cause the hassles. Admittedly my friend was on Dilantin which prevents epileptic fits and so he couldn't get a medical.
Check that the medication is ok and you should be ok to get a medical pass.

Glad your transplant went well.
I had a transplant 6 years ago and the CAA have been very good about my medical but they are fussy about some things.
1 Safety pilot restriction for the first year/ till you are off the steriods.
2 vasodialatory blood pressure control is out.
I only have a class 3 medical as I only fly for fun so I don't know about a class 1.
Doctor Rainford is the man you need to see at CAA, he's very helpful and keen to keep people in the air. Good luck

Thanks for your kind responce.
I am not too happy about having a safety Pilot though!
Still I will have to wait until I see the CAA.
Kind regards vansrv6a.
