Question STOMACH ULCERS

I WANT TO BE A COMMERCIAL PILOT. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY HEALTH. I HAVE ULCERATIVE COILITUS. SHOULD THAT BE A CONCERN? IN CASE IF SOMEONE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT "ULCERATIVE COILITUS" IT IS LIKE CROHN'S DISEASE, BUT IT'S NOT AS BAD. IS THAT EVEN ASKED WHEN APPLYING FOR A JOB? I AM WORKING ON GETTING MY PRIVATE LICENSE PRETTY SOON. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS GET A PHYSICAL FOR THAT. I PASSED IT, BUT DO I HAVE TO GO TO FURTHER TESTS IN THE FUTURE. I AM TAKING MEDICATION FOR THIS MEDICAL PROBLEM. AS SOON AS I GET MY P.L. I WILL GO TO FLIGHT SCHOOL.

Girlpilot1978:

The regs vary from country to country, hence you need a local AME as mentioned.

The recurrent comments on various threads about shouting refer to your use of capital letters - netiquette regards them as the equivalent of shouting.

Good luck

I see you are in the USA; the FAA Aeromedical Center is very helpful and you need to contact them. In Europe, under JAR regulations, ulcerative colitis is unfortunately a no-no for initial Class 1 medical certification (JAR-FCL 3), but if satisfactorily recovered for more than a year without symptoms or medication from a single acute episode. you might be all right. But do get on to the Feds, the address of their Federal and regional offices are at http://www.cami.jccbi.gov/
