Class 1 renewal after expiry?

Hi,

Just a quick query, hopefully somebody can clear up for me.

I have a JAA Class 1, initally awarded last January. I have completed the SE-CPL and would like to continue training (ME-IR) on my class 2 since I will be able to offset the renewal cost for a while. I have just had a concern that if I let the class 1 expires, then I won't have to revisit Aviation house for another initial will I? I assumed that even if it expires and I would be able to renew it using a local class 1 approved AME?

Yey or ney?

cheers

Simon

Once you hold a Class 1 medical there is not a lot of difference in the medical standards required between class1 and 2, more the length of time various elements are valid.
