is th is normal?
iv booked my first medical today and was asked (by the Drs Sect. ) to pop into optician’s before hand to get my eyes tested (and fill out a CAA form) and bring the report down to the medical.
I was never asked if i needed glasses or not.
unless the standard eye tests are being done there instead.
The only reason stated on the CAA webside is if you ware glasses.
o yea and the cost with out the eye test around £180
anyone know how much specsavers or an ave. optician’s would charge for this kind of test.

Most opticians have an Aviation eye test to go through.
I would assume that the kind sec at the CAA is perhaps getting you to make sure you don't fail your class 1 on something silly like that, and blow £400.
my eye test cost me about £15 from memory.
good luck
EDIT: I assumed you meant a class 1, if its a class 2 that your going for, then ignore me :s

nope it is only a CLASS 2, and i was told by the lady i tryed to book with the ensure i tell them its a class 2 and its for private flying.
and sadly over here theres little protection for employees, so no eye test on my company.
she seemd pretty sure that i needed one for my first visit.

looking under the CAA website, they maby a few things that my Dr wasts check out that i mihgt be able to fake during his eye test like.

There must be no acute or chronic disease in the eyes or their surrounding structures. You must have normal fields of
vision.
You must not suffer from double vision.
A disorder of eye muscle balance (such as a squint) may need specialist assessment.

WorkingHard - I hate 'lazies' - although Whopity's attitude may reflect this in some respects, it is law under the Health and Safety Act (I think it is either the main act or a regulation) that a) A user of display screen equipment is entitled to regular breaks and/or changes of activity, b) The employer shall ensure all display screen equipment is safe to be used by the user and c) That at his or her request, the employee is entitled to an eye and eyesight test at their discretion, the costs to be covered by the employer. It is something along those lines anyway! Hey, we weren't discussing this anyway, but that's just my two cents
All the best, Jack.
