liposuction

The other day I was talking to a FA who had done liposuction and started flying straight after that. I know that when i had apendisitis (my appendics was removed) i couldnt fly for 6 weeks.

Does anybody know of the risks involved flying so fast after liposuction

It would depend on what got sucked.
In abdominal surgery (and removal of the appendix requires opening of the abdomen), penetration into the peritoneum can result in pressure differentials across the abdominal wall. Also, excess strain placed upon internal sutures (especially with an open appendicectomy),can result in burst internal sutures and an incisional hernia.
In liposuction, there is only removal from tissue overlying muscle layers etc, so if the pain is under control, and it is only a small procedure, there should be no reason for an early return to flying.

An AME should be able to give you a precise answer.

'Flying' as a flight attendent (take it that is what FA stands for) and as Flight Deck Crew requires a different sort of fitness and there is a difference between liposuction and intra abdominal surgery.

So you can not really compare them.

I would hope though that cabin crew would be fit enough to partake in evacuation/emergency procedures when it comes to the crunch. 'Straight away' seems quick.
