Piaggio P180 over Napoli

I was on holiday in Napoli last week for a couple of days and there was a P180 constantly circling the city at about 2000ft. This was all day Monday and Tuesday. Can anyone let me know what it was doing? Thanks!

Enav (the italian air traffic control agency) uses a Piaggio 180 for ground based navigation equipment accuracy check..

Maybe that's what you saw..

Thanks very much for the reply. Could be that. Seems strange for a busy airport to have that going on all day. Where I work in the UK our ILS calibration is usually done at night.

Flight inspections are normally flown in VFR at low altitude that's why it's more confortable by day.
They also have priority on commercial traffic, you should be amazed to see them working in Rome or Milan.
