In your case, you cannot go home just time to time for some fews days? I read somewhere that there are no holidays the first year but if the schedule is published well in advance for pilots, I do hope that one can manage to go home time to time even for 3 or 4 days. |

According to Turkish law, you are entitled to get your paid days only after full year of service in this case it is only 14 days. However, i am sure they can help you on that to combine 2-3 days in a row to help you to go home. But company will expect you to full time based in Turkey. Winter time would be much easier to arrange this.

I live here with my family so my home is here. That said, a lot of single foreingers are regularely going back in Europe
You also may expect to be free for Christmas holiday if you requested it as the winter season is usually more relax. |

We are flying Turkish registered aircraft and some of the previous German aircraft have been transferred. |

I read again the information here and the following seems to be the negative side of the company: Hiring but %80 of flight are at night. No crew meal, not enough uniforms. Some domestic layovers at low quaility hotels. Also, some flights are really long (for instance AYT -> DUB, it is 5 hours). For these kind of flights, is-it common that the same crew fly the two legs from and back to AYT? if so, so that would be at the very edge of the regulation in terms of flight duty period and I guess that it would require captain discretion. An aircraft is usually used at his best and with 24hours in a day, you can expect flight at any time, morning, afternoon, whatever. Checking now, 48 flights and it's 4:30 pm. Dublin is probably the longest flight we have (or one of them) Long day yes, but longer days means longer duty which usually means more off days because of legal limitations. Nothing is perfect, I'm pretty happy with that. 150h duty and 12 days off in July. Regarding crew meal, after an issue with the catering company, they started giving us money to compensate and so you can now decide to bring your own food or pre-order and it will be delivered to the aircraft. This is said to still be a transition system while looking at long term solution. I don't have any complain about our uniform. I guess this is pretty personal. Hope it answers your questions. Edit: I forgot about the hotels. Yes you will have layover in Turkey. Hotels aren't always the best but saying that they are low level is a bit harsh. Most of them are more than enough. |

Totally agree that online we find a lot of complaining. That's why I took advantage of this thread to have input on the matter from a happy person at the company :) Indeed, long flights mean more rest time and also more money since the salary is based on duty time. Doing a go and back to dublin on a row can be pretty tough I guess. I understand the point of view of an airline to operate a plane at its best to make it profitable but there are examples of airlines making huge profits without operating planes the whole night (no need to name it/them, the goal of this thread is not to do comparaisons but simply providing information). As you said, nothing is perfect and everything has pros and cons. Thanks again for your time answering the questions here. Extremly helpful and very much appreciated! |

During winter is higher than that, sometimes as high as 20. Standbys in summer are close to none. During winter you will probably get 2-5. Layover days during summer as average, 4-5. During winter probably the same. It is hard to answer because this is constantly evolving. My first two years were different from the next two and I'm expecting changes again. |
