Any of you guys have prepared the interview part of the Assessment with www.passandfly.com?
I'm looking for a partner who's willing to join me and do the preparation course together, as I've heard good things about the online course. Also interested in sharing some 737 hours before my assessment on the end of September. DM if interested :) |
Assessment review
I found it so helpful when others explained their day so here is mine.I passed with APS MCC on the 737 with VA in March 2022. I did a 4 hour sim refresher two days before the assessment with VA airlines.
Studied using pilotassessment.com Arrived at 8:20 so I wouldn’t have to wait around. Met by HR, fire exits, canteen and toilets shown. Company presentation. Presentation by one of the assessors basically went through a detailed brief of what we are expected to do in the sim. I had sometime to brief with my partner. Hr and Technical Tell us about yourself? What do you know about Ryanair? Fleet 471 737s 29 a320s 1 charter 210 in order. 90% on time from July 2022 company report Difference between ng and max ? Configuration. So I spoke about seats differences and exit doors. What made you want to fly ? What are sops and why are they important? Standard operation procedures. Safety, communication I.e language barriers and efficiency. What would you do if a captain did not follow sops ? Play on inexperience. Capt I read sops are x but I noticed you did y what is the reason , did I read wrong. Safety ! So also I would say I’m uncomfortable ect What was the hardest part of your training ? Me ATPLs and why Have you appplied to any other airlines? Where do you see yourself in 5 years ? Captain if I and the airline agreed I was ready. Also want to get into teaching so type rating instructor. What makes a good type rating instructor? Tech Tell me something anything you want and we can start from there I spoke about winglet I.E on the max being more effective because of less drag Difference between max and ng winglets ? I didn’t know could not think. Spilt winglet vs plain What type of wings do Ryanair use? Swept Angle ? 25 Advantages and disadvantages ? Good Increase Mcrit able to fly faster. Lateral stability in turbulence. Bad Induced drag poor lift corrected me and said when ? Low speeds. Tora , what does runway available mean? Length of runway for takeoff acceleration roll Toda? tora plus clearway Clearway? Area beyond runway for initial climb Minimum width of clearway? 152 m Windows on plane which ones are heated and with what? Electrical. Far side windows not heated. What is lenticular cloud ? Mountain wave cloud which side ? Lee side Believe that was it. I also remember being asked about my notice period and if I had funds available. I was asked if I had any questions. Sim I was PM Was told not to say 2 degrees left instead just general call outs ie heading speed ect Very strict on pm and pf roles. My flight as PF was pretty good So take off East Midlands followed sid Clean configuration General handing Increase speed while maintaining altitude. Pitch for speed and 80% thrust Decrease speed while maintaining altitude. Pitch for speed and idle thrust. Climb / descend with 800 ft per min. Set pitch and control speed with thrust. Steep turn in your choice of direction. Just keep the triangle in the two lines and back pressure Some sort of failure PF: state malfunction PM : states PF: make sure you agree !! Your radios controls and request qrh piosee /dodar Nits Set up for ILS repositioned Raw data ILS I was like 1000ft high but no visual ? Sim had a fault. Go around executed . Same problem again. Time spent waiting for it to be fixed. Repositioned kept glide slope and localised fixed landed. Outcome : passed |
Just out of curiosity as I've read something in another thread: are they offering regular or "contractor" employment after TR/LT?

So there is no need that the PM needs to set manually the climb thrust during T/O, right? Just need to verify that FMA displays N1. Thanks in advance :-) |
Can someone clear something up for me? For those assigned to Buzz or Malta, do they need to SOLI to Ireland, or do they get Polish/Maltese licences?

It used to be A/T disengaged at 1500' AGL. They changed it now and the A/T is disengaged at 3000' AGL.
At 3000ft AGL you just start your flap retraction. Correct me, if I am wrong :-) |

All direct contracts, but those sent to Malta Air and Buzz have no basic salary, just a high flight pay.

I'd stay away from this website and anyone trying to sell you interview preparation for Ryanair. The Ryanair interview zones in on a few very important things:
Do you know why you want to work for them (large company, opportunites, excellent training ... take your pick!) Do you know why they should hire you? (you are ambitious, a hard worker, want to learn from the best etc .. again take your pick!) Are you safe! (emphasise your focus on being a safe pilot) Can that pilot interviewing envisage themselves sitting next to you all day long without wanting to harm you Do you know the basic stuff that you should know about aircraft you have flown Show your personality, they are lovely people and they do show an interest in everybody. Just be polite, have a nice vibe about you, you will not go wrong That is it. No need to pay anybody for anything and the sheer audacity of these alleged pilots who know full well there is next to nothing to the Ryanair interview is incredible. Profiteering off of people's nerves that the interviewers themselves solve the second the candidate sits down. They deliberately have a conversation style interview to relax everybody and really see "you". This is not a British Airways style interview. It's well known the real assessment in Ryanair is the sim. The interview is just for them to make sure they are not hiring a dangerous pilot or someone with a bad personality disorder. It's very difficult to go wrong. I would however go hire a 737 sim for a few hours and fly some profiles with a certified instructor and get some good tips.

Its your money, but there is no mention of cost, which should set off alarm bells. What A320LGW says is true.

As far as I understood, the A/T will be disengaged once the flaps are retracted and you have reached the stop altitude.
At 3000ft AGL you just start your flap retraction. Correct me, if I am wrong :-) Reach stop altitude, once stable at speed/altitude they'll ask PM to disconnect the A/T |

Well, I'm going to kindly disagree. I did the course with them 3 weeks ago, as a friend of mine recommend me to them, and I have to say it's quite worth it. I saved a huge amount of research time on the internet, as all you need to know is provided by them in their program. As a matter of fact, they sell it as a 'course', but I have to say that it's more like a personalized mentoring service where they provide you full guidance in a course format that makes you fully prepared for the actual day. Also, for a 22 year old like myself, the assessment was my first ever interview, therefore it really helped me to practice out loud all of the RYR interview Q&A dynamics on a simulated interview scenario. Some people will find it useful, others won't. But for me it very much helped with passing the assessment.
Although I have a question, you say you did the course 3 weeks ago, judging by the date you posted that would put it between the 15th and 20th August, which confuses me somewhat. You see the Website was not registered until the 26th August and it looks like to went live on 30th August, which is at least 10 days after you did your course with them and at worse 15 days, or two weeks and 1 day. Any thoughts on this? For those considering paying €349 .00 for a couple of Zoom video sessions, consider this, it is very strange that both the members who are recommending this company are new members whose first posts are about a company who don't seem to have a contact phone number or email address with a new website. They offer nothing you cannot get elsewhere, some of it in a sim. There is a whole world of info on here for free. I would use that and save the money. |

Those who posted are probably the people who run that website. I wouldn't pay them a penny

Nothing suspicious about that whatsoever. |

As far as I know, they've been doing courses for more than half a year by word of mouth (that's how I got enrolled), and now they've created a website... Other than that, I'm just sharing my experience in a course that contributed to me being successful and have a job, that's it :) See you in the skies! |

Well, I'm actually one of the persons in the testimonials, so there's no need to judge so easily.
