Q1: Does anyone know what the roster is for the pilots at Wizz are?
Q2: Can anyone educate me what different types of contracts are available for pilots at Wizz? |
Roster: 14 on/7 off, or 6 on/4 off, soon to become 5/4 on bigger bases. Random if local to the base. Nice and stable in my experience.
Confair contract: employed by confair, not wizzair directly, slightly more money, but no social security paid. Local contract: social security paid, but amount of money and social security deductions change by country. Taxes paid in switzerland in both cases. Local pilots can get only local contract. |
Thanks Dirk85
Officer Kite, just take in consideration you live in eastern europe, and (Dirk85 can may be able to confirm or not), but you become SFO from 1500h and you fly a lot so to compare a scheme like BAA with Wizz and CTC with EZY for example, take all in consideration. Price of the training (including interest of the bank), TR, evolution, lower salary obviously, taxes and cost of life in eastern countries. Honestly, the better investments you're looking for is maybe not where you think :) |

2000 a month is very low Late 30s for a SFO? Counting the €/£ difference, you get more than that in your first year at easyjet. Depending on your financial situation, there may be better "investements" out there with a greater return which makes up for the higher course price i think. |
QR, you pay about 110K for the training but get paid about 10 000$ net pm.
EZY, same price or a little more if you do the ATPL+TR, get paid something like 55K Pounds as a FO and 90K as a captain after a few years. |
AA757,
First QR, you ll do your training, the waiting time before to start flying is currently 2 more years. Then you're stuck there cause your MPL isn't EASA and to convert in an ATPL EASA you have to pass again the exam. Then you're paid way way less (no more than 2500 dollars) as Second officer. Easyjet is the same price but don't forget the price of leaving in UK, and get paid more 45k eur as an SO for the first years. And don't forget the case you're an ATPL instead of an MPL. Do your calculation guys, but really it's not because the conditions appears better, they really are even if they might be. |
You know guys,
If you really want to become a pilot, the best way for the moment (It's my opinion) is to work and spare a lot of money before, then go through assessment without taking any kind of credit. Just because you don't know what will happen in the future. Don't put your family in the  You ll then be able to accept low income during the beginning of your career and you will know how to save money and pay low tax (This will help you alot). For sure there are a lot of more suitable investments, like R.E.I.T where you can get 10% a year on your 100K €, or buy an appartment, rent it and put all your money in an offshore country like mauritius where you will have only 15% taxation. But be honest with you, what do you want NOW ? What I want you to understand is that you can earn a lot of money in aviation, it's like all, you start at the bottom. Be ok with this, think well and invest in yourself. |
Man, the information I gave where the one given by people trying the program and written on this forum last year.
Now obviously the situation has maybe changed and I'm not discuss about it. You don't really understand my point, the atpl conversion would make it for me an unsuitable investment not financially speaking obviously but more pratically. About the money you ll get more than a captain wizzair but once again that's a choice. I don't disapprove this program at all, I applied myself. But the time ctc is dealing with your application you can wait really long time. No answer so far after having applied in July. My philosophy is to apply everywhere you can but sometimes the best is not where you think it is. I personally wouldn't go for QR because of the license but for those willing to do it it may be good. But it's not because the money is better than the financial investment is. People are often blocked by irrational factors, opening it's mind and check what there is around is always the best option |
Ah and officer kite, stop accusing people please, you have informations, that's great, go on the QR forum, give the information you know, that will avoid us to keep inaccurate information and you to come accusing me to lie to scare people just because the situation changed
|
Sorry to intervene, but, assuming that the QR scheme is better, is better for the 10-15 that got in. What about the rest of, let's say hypothetical, 200 guys that want to join a scheme were you actually have a job in the end? You have to consider the best option for you,not to get blocked on one ideea and that's the one and only one. You have to continuously look after and find other ways of getting in the right seat first. Even if it's not Qatar, Emirates, British or any other. In the end, you take what you can afford, and you think it's good for you.
|
Well said Apitu...it looks like anyone can carefully choice the program one likes and fits better, and then later just applyto it and get the slot in the course ...BIG LOL there !!
|
Apparently, my reply does not appear, but totally agree with you Apitu, the best is still to consider every options and only eliminate those which really not suit you :)

Hi Folks,
Q1: I see on the thread some of the individuals had applied for Wizz Air Scheme, but then were offered the SmartLynx Scheme instead. Did you guys interview for Wizz and SmartLynx, or Just for Wizz Air? Q2: Did anyone on this thread interview for both Wizz and SmartLynx? |
Hi All,
New here but looking at this Wizz Air Cadet Scheme at BAA and a few questions on the selection process if anyone is able to help! Which parts are taken online and which are taken at BAA in Lithuania. From what I gathered from the initial phone call it seemed the Profile XT test was done online and, if passed, the Compass tests, english test and interviews are conducted at BAA over 2 days. And then potentially airline interviews following later? Does this sound correct to those of you that have recently been through selection? I would also be interested in the terms of employment with Wizz Air if anyone with a letter of engagement/already training has any further info that would be great! Seems pretty difficult to get information surrounding salaries/bonding to the airline from BAA themselves. Good luck to all those applying! |
Officer Kite is right, they will propose you to both airline Westend. There was just a Wizz Air interview so far and the Smartlynx cadet have been selected regarding their BAA assessment only. That will maybe change but nothing for sure.
Officer Kite, do you know who didn't pay the fee? I paid myself and didn't here of someone who didn't but it's possible. The fee are only for the BAA assessment. For the Airline interviews there isn't any fees. So if you paid it once it's valid for a year(BAA assessment is valid for a year) no matter how many airline are presented. Hope that helps :) |
Yes OfficerKite, once you pass positively the BAA selection they will propose you to both in theory...in practice, from what I have experienced, I think they send your package and test results to the airline that best fits with your curriculum, previous experiences, competences (especially soft skills) and airline values, vision and core business.
Just to give you an idea, SmartLynx is fully embedded in the ACMI business, that differs quite far from a "routinary" airline like Wizz or EZY, (nothing wrong, just a different work regime with different needs in terms of crew mobility, seasonal bases, short term allocation as needed and alike), having said that also the would-be-cadet profile that best fit-for-purpose their desiderata plays an important role in the allocation of slots among the 2 schemes. Hope this helps and good luck to all. |
To complete lynx, that could also depend of the schedule. Wizz air just just came once in November and will probably come in may, meaning those who did the baa assessment in January were more in the smartlynx window
|
so from the words i understood that there is no interview for smartlynx?
i am applying for smartlynx cadet program. I already made the PXT and english but still have compass test and the interview in Lithuania. I am planning to stay for a week there to do the airline interview in case of passing BAA assessment. However they kept saying that they can't make me do the interview in the same time and i will have to cone again. So is there any body who made the airline interview after the assessment directly or made it online for example ? |
When I applied a few months ago, the Smartlynx interview was done by the school directly. However it might have changed now, as the process wasn't really settled at the time. Smartlynx believe they don't have enough hindsight, yet, to judge ab-initio candidate in an interview, and they'd rather have it done by the school, and then pick the candidates themselves based on the report of BAA. Again, this might not be the case anymore.
|
they told you from the beginning that the process will be ended after BAA assessment and then they will inform you if the airline accepted you or not?. Or they told you that you will have an airline interview?
|
They will send the results from the tests to wizz, and they will decide if they want to call you to an interview. At least this is what I've been told. BAA won't guarantee your interview with Wizz
|
But currently i am speaking about smartlynx. I didn't applied for Wizz
|
Yeah but i am speaking about smartlynx is it the same ?
|
Mohammed....You may wish to ask any SmartLynx related questions under the SmartLynx Thread "BAA Smartlynx cadet program"
|
Hello guys,
Anyone here who has done and passed the Compass test at BAA and is willing to share some information, especially about the "Physics" part. It's gonna be my first assessment so I am quite excited. :{ Your answer is really appreciated! Thanks in advance! :D |
Hi everybody ,
I'm coming in Vilnius for the assessments from April 12th to 16 (Tuesday to Sunday because no flight is available from my city ) I'm applying for SmartLynx and WizzAir Program's If you are in town send a message ! |
Hello i am going to be there at the same time for the assessment.
|
Yep me too. My assessment dates are 12th and 13th.
|
Hi Sarah, are your two days of assessments, the profile xt/english test on day 1, and COMPASS/interview on day 2, both at BAA? Or is the second date for an interview with wizz. Cheers
|
Hey guys! I"m new here:), and I"m also interested to take a part and apply this Wizz-Air program.
I have a question about the reputation that Wizz air pilots get. On the hand, you get a contract for 3 year that you can accomplish more than 1500 hours for your ATPL, but I"ve heard that it would be hard to get a job in western EU airlines after you worked for Eastern EU airlines companys. Is it true? Someone knows a Wizz Air/Eastern EU airline who works for western company? |
The interview is with BAA, and based on the results of the profile XT, compass test and interview, they will or will not recommend you to Wizz, and the interview with Wizz should be somewhere to the end of April. Good luck
|
And for those who passed the BAA assesment - How did you prepare yourself for the assesment? I"ve heard about 2 good sites: pilotaptitudetest and latestpilotjobs.
Can you share with us how did you do that? Thanks! |
How comes some people are going for an assessment for 2 days? I was only invited for one day - the Compass test.
I did the personality XT test at home online |

Yep that's correct, interviews for Wizzair are at the end of April. 😊 |
Cheers Sarah, best of luck.
Momo95- I'm the same, did my profile xt at home and in Vilnius 10th of April for the COMPASS part. |
Good luck to you too. Have you done the English Grammar test yet?

Can you share with us how did you do that? Thanks! I know that issue came up in this thread, but according to the assessment test of BBA, which site is the best to prep to their assessment? I saw lots of good sites to study from, but every each one of them suits to specific place according to what I understood. How did you study guys? |

The English grammar test is fine, but there was another part of the test testing my knowledge of words that mostly I have never even heard of before and I am a native English speaker !
|
Which test was that?
