Anybody's received or heard anything from EI yet?
Technically we are supposed to receive questions to be completed Monday latest - clock is ticking and it's stressing me out.

Cheers

Why are you stressed?

Don't worry, application deadline has only been extended to Monday midnight, so unlikely anybody is going to hear anything before that.

Chill and put it out your mind until you hear something, assessment centres are right at the end of September so there's more than 2 months for them to play with for testing and screening us. After September, things will start to move rapidly.

Good luck!

My understanding was that initial applications were possible until yesterday, then followed by additional questionnaires to be completed by Monday.
I am not really stressed, I just want to have the time to really work the questions we will be given.

I wouldn't be stressed by anything at these early stages. And where did you hear about a questionnaire to be done by Monday? I never heard of this. My understanding was that we were to hear back within 4 weeks of closing date with online assessments if successful and nothing if unsuccessful.

The 72 hours to answer questions start from when you receive the questions, not the closing date. So keep an eye on your emails. No need to stress about anything.

I meant we would receive the link to the online assessments within 4 weeks if successful at screening, i wasn't referring to the length of time given to actually do the assessments.

Where someone is going to part with £100,000 I fail to see what difference £250 will make, to say it's a drop in the ocean is an understatement. If taking the moral high ground is priority, then you shouldn't even consider applying to a course that asks for so much cash, because even if the assessment was free ... you are still being ripped off by the overpriced training if successful at said assessment day.
The yardstick I use is the old BA Hamble/TEP schemes, this Aer Lingus scheme would, from a distance, appear to come very close to that in terms of affordability.

And for the chance to have the full training and TR paid for, i think not even applying to it because of a small assessment fee is a bit unappreciative of what the company are actually offering.
If you're unsuccessful, then you have nothing to be grateful for. If you're successful, I think the best way to show gratitude is to put in maximum effort whilst working there for a long time.

At least one of the training organisations which charges an "assessment fee" has the walls covered in TVs and canvas paintings of aircraft. They also give out more brochures and free pens then a man could ever need. Those are some of the reasons why I thought the £200+ was poor value.

Back to Aer Lingus scheme, from a distance it looks very good and hopefully other airlines will follow.

Hi All,

I heard it's twelve cadets for starters this winter, possibly more to follow later in year depending on expansion!

Good luck to all,

Got an invitation for online assesment. I hold a PPL, University degree, studying ATPLs distance learning and I am Spanish.

Good luck!

bsal 12th Jul 2016 22:58

Got mine too.

TFFF 12th Jul 2016 22:59

Received the invitation as well.

So did I! Best of luck to all

FredDickens 13th Jul 2016 00:34

Any preparation tips for what to do before starting the questionnaire? This will be the first online assessment that I have completed.

I don't expect the answers, just some help to get up to speed on the process.

Thanks.

So did i... good luck everyone.. does anyone know if its similiar to say the Virgin Atlantic aptitude tests?

Apitu 13th Jul 2016 10:32

I think that everybody who applied got the online assessment, and this is actually the first phase of selection. But why do they asked about the Atpl/Cpl if it didn't count?

momo95 13th Jul 2016 10:50

To see if you've done them or not, they do give the impression they're interested to know about how much of the ATPLs you've done ... but realistically when you tick the yes box it's a rejection straight away.

EZY_FR 13th Jul 2016 14:21

Anyone else find the tests really difficult?

gordonquinn 13th Jul 2016 14:23

how is everyone finding the questions? I ran out of time on the verbal reasoning section, probably only completed just over half of them :/

Scagrams 13th Jul 2016 14:36

Found everything pretty hard indeed. But I guess it is the same for everyone... I don't think we should judge our performance until results are known haha. Good luck!

EZY_FR 13th Jul 2016 15:15

Really enjoyed the obstacles and multi tasking tests in particular, they reminded me of some classic Nintendo video games.

AucT 13th Jul 2016 15:30

Do you have to take several tests in one sitting for these airlines online tests? Do they allow to do one or two and save it, so you can come back tomorrow to do the rest?
