Let's hope it's just a rumour...

Even at list prices it would cost ~1 million for 10 places at FTE. That might sound like a lot but in context it's only 0.4% of EI's annual profit. Or 11% of Willie Walsh's total salary/benefits. Put into the wider context of IAG's revenues it's a drop in the ocean. On top of that there'll be reduced cadet salaries and offsetting against tax to reduce the cost further. Yes airlines are operating in a tough environment and need to control cost, but there's still room to do things the 'right way', as EI have proved over the last few years.

I understand what you are saying, but if you only consider to work for an airline paying for you full CPL, ME, IR, TR you probably won´t work for an airline any time soon, unfortunately of course.

That's not really what I meant, as you say fully sponsored schemes are seemingly confined to the history books.

I was trying to say, if IAG are stopping this scheme this year, where are they going to find 0.5% next year, or the year after? Remember, Aer Lingus are profitable, there's no need to go on a huge cost cutting drive. For me, Aer Lingus came across as one of the good guys. For IAG to step in and prevent them continuing to do the right thing would be a particularly poor piece of management IMO.

Ofc, this might all just be PPRUNE rumour......

You are right about what you say apart from this point, you should have said that IAG are pretty poor management!

For an airline group that has made so much profit over the last few years, its nonsensical that they continue to ask for so many concessions from their employees, whilst the people at the top are living it up.
