No, but look at the bright side; At least they don't charge you an attendance fee for the privilege! :ok:

Holding your head high is important - But the long radio silence afterwards, while seeing others get a chance almost immediately, is certainly demoralising :ugh:

I can imagine they have a massive backlog - So many people I know have applied and none have been invited the past year! Puts the 'hiring 15+ FO a month' stories in perspective doesn't it?

Anyone know if a one-day JOC from the likes of CRM Aviation meets the FlyBe JOC requirement?

Primary Governor 14th Oct 2015 06:53

I've been called for an interview and I don't have a JOC, only TP time.

Deano777 14th Oct 2015 09:04

You'll most likely get asked to complete a JOC before you undertake the sim check should you be lucky enough to get through the interview. Good luck.

CaptFlyer 24th Oct 2015 16:29

Hi guys,

Can anyone who has recently gone through sim assessment with Flybe tell me if you did it on the Dash 8 sim or a generic sim ? One of my friend has been invited, but he told me that he was told the sim would be a generic 737-800 FNPT fixed base. I couldn't find that info in this thread, neither I read it anywhere on flybe training academy website that they have such a sim. Maybe a recent purchase ?

I think that could be the 737XJ of Simtech, in Dublin

CaptFlyer 24th Oct 2015 17:58

@marcoBCN

That's also what I thought, since they send some applicants to Simtech for JOC. However I didn't know they also have the 737 XJ in Exeter.

Deano777 24th Oct 2015 19:16

The sim checks are now being conducted on the Embraer 175 sim in Exeter.
There is no 737 sim of any kind in Exeter that Flybe own.

markpodbery 26th Oct 2015 19:38

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked further up, has anyone else applied with ATPL subjects just less than 90% and been successful ?

Thanks

Mark

May88 27th Oct 2015 01:13

I'll save you the hassle of using the search function; I know, getting type rated on that thing is a b*tch :ugh:

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No one in this thread has been invited with less than 90%. They also have literally thousands of people on file, that do meet the requirement, and have not been considered yet after months (or year+).

Advice: Fill out the form, cross your fingers, and keep applying.

Has anyone been offered anything other than a Belfast base DHC8 F/O?

thanks

gefferzz 25th Jan 2016 10:51

Has anyone had an interview after having an application in for over a year?

Ghostwing 25th Jan 2016 12:02

New Online portal.

Interested to see a new online application coming for flight crew on the website. Wonder what requirements will be for the respective positions, any one care to enlighten?

flaps35 25th Jan 2016 15:37

Hi

Hi guys ,

1 week ago I have received this e-mail,

Flybe Pilot Recruitment

We thank you for your continued patience and confirm that Flybe is actively recruiting First Officers onto its expanding Dash 8 Q400 fleet. We have recruitment and sim assessment sessions set up monthly and look forward to meeting you at one of those sessions. If you have found alternative employment or no longer wish to be considered for a D8 First Officer position it would be most helpful if you could withdraw your application, this saves valuable time when setting up interviews and gives others the opportunity to be invited.

Once again thank you for your interest in joining the Flybe family.

Regards

Flybe Pilot Recruitment

I wouldn't get too excited. Many thousands got this email last Thursday (as did I), including folks who applied to the airline as long as 10 years ago and also a number of existing Flybe employees. Some sort of database issue I imagine.

Hi, just wanted to reassure people who are waiting. I waited for nearly 8 months and finally got employed by Flybe a few weeks ago. Three of my friends have also been successful with Flybe and have just completed their line training. All seem happy and glad they stuck it out. There is a new portal being used now I believe so it may be worth logging in and checking your original application is still live.

Good luck!

flybynight80, if you don't mind me asking, did you or your friends get in via the Kura 'BESTPILOT' scheme or your own means as it were? Only ask as I'd heard (and it was later confirmed - see a few pgs back on this thread) that Flybe were only looking at Kura grads.

Cheers,
HW

flaps35 20th Feb 2016 18:34

Well,I have asked the HR of flybe they have confirmed that I will get an invitement as soon as a slot is available so it was not a system issue.:D

Greetings.

Not sure Flybe have a dedicated HR function any more. My understanding is that recruitment will shortly be transferred/outsourced to CTC (this may coincide with the new recruitment portal mentioned on the website). I'm sure someone in Flybe would be happy to confirm.

AMS 2nd Mar 2016 21:42

When is CTC taking over and starting this selection ??

Sheep Worrier 4th Mar 2016 08:24

I see the easyJet-ification of flybe continues apace.

Shame.

Coffin Corner 4th Mar 2016 11:37

CTC handling Flybe's recruitment is not a rumour, it's a hard fact. As for when, well that's the million dollar question.

Happy Wanderer 4th Mar 2016 12:09

I got what looked very much like a standard email from Flybe yesterday advising that the existing Bond recruitment portal had now closed and if still interested, to reapply to CTC via the link that was attached.

HW

Delta Golf Mike 4th Mar 2016 13:27

Looks like its true alright. I saw this on their careers website just now. I guess we have to pay £250 for the privilege too :yuk:

Flybe is delighted to announce our new on line portal for Pilot Recruitment and welcome applications from Captain and First Officer candidates.

Please note this is a new application portal and any pilot who has applied before via the previous system, needs to reapply on the CTC Application Portal

RexBanner 6th Mar 2016 12:56

I can't say I'm surprised. Flybe's recruitment department consists of just one person nowadays, I think she was a bit snowed under. Still it's disappointing that it's gone the way of CTC.

mikemorgan81 7th Mar 2016 12:20

So this new online application portal...

Anyone else getting an error message after submitting the additional questions?

EGBD 7th Mar 2016 15:58

Yes me too, so frustrating!! Comes up with OLE DB operation generated error after submitting the questions?

Happy Wanderer 7th Mar 2016 20:55

Yep. Must be a bug or something. I get the following error message after trying to submit the Additional Qs:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e21'
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.
/updateadditionalquestions.asp, line 27

Individual answers are limited to 400 words, but I note that the 'Current Status' section refers to a limitation of 400 characters - not sure if this is an issue or not.

I'm also getting messages saying certain details haven't been provided, even though they have and many times! (eg earliest available start date, and height and weight).

I've reported the problems to CTC via the error links, but no replies received as yet. Deeply frustrating.

HW

mikemorgan81 8th Mar 2016 14:07

I had the same issues with the missing information (height/weight etc) which had already been submitted. For some reason, entering the data on my iPad made the information stick...

As for the additional questions; from tedious trial and error, I found that it was the first question (why do you want to work etc...) that was causing the problem. Shortened it by a few sentences and it all went through ok. Still can't explain what the issue is/was.

AMS 8th Mar 2016 22:01

Any ideas on what this selection event consists off ?

AMS, what selection event?

HW

AMS 8th Mar 2016 23:41

flybe at ctc

Happy Wanderer 9th Mar 2016 08:11

It's not an event - Flybe's online recruitment portal has moved from Bond to CTC, that's all. All those who previously applied to the airline via the old portal have to reapply to CTC using the new application process (which is bugged and a complete ball-ache based on mine and other's recent experiences). Flybe (Jo Soper) sent an email out about the changeover a fortnight or so ago.

HW

AMS 9th Mar 2016 12:15

thanks for your reply HW.

Once you put your application, if successful you will be invited for an assessment day and then simulator session in Exeter.

I was enquiring about what this assessment day will entail.

thanks

Roger! Unless things have changed with CTC's involvement (pretty sure CTC are dealing solely with the upfront selection process, but I may be wrong) the interview and subsequent sim check are covered in earlier pages in this thread - appreciate this runs to 15 pages now, but well worth a read through in my view.

HW

AMS 9th Mar 2016 15:37

oh really?

I believe CTC's involvement is get a whole bunch of guys and do a selection day with their methods and an interview. Those that pass will be handed over the flybe for sim assessment.

So just interesting to see what the process is likely to be at CTC.....

PressTheTit 9th Mar 2016 15:50

I am going to be sorely disappointed if I answer 5 bone questions in no more than 2000 words only to be invited to a toilet selection day held by CTC and have to pay for the privilege. Does anyone know for a fact that this is not the case?
What I hear from inside Flybe is that CTC cadets are proving to be garbage and the company is in desperate need of FO's with some experience (both life and flying) that might make Captain in reasonable time. So why introduce an application form which only the most enthusiastic green types that Flybe are already inundated with can be bothered to fill out?

Northern Highflyer 10th Mar 2016 10:27

Doesn't this create a conflict of interest ? Flybe already take CTC cadets, and now CTC are running the recruitment process as well. Will they ensure their own cadets get preference over outsiders? I had an application in under the old system but now I'm having reservations about whether it's worth the bothering under CTC. They have their finger in way too many pies.

perceval 11th Mar 2016 03:43

Hi All , To pass on a bit of gen , this is what CTC is sending out to those of us who've been selected : ''Morning : presentation about flybe, providing further information on the company, followed by a short question and answer session. You will then be asked to complete a set of computer based aptitude tests followed by group exercises in order to assess your interpersonal and team working skills. If your application is progressed to the afternoon session, you will then be requested to stay for an evidence-based interview. Those who are successful in the afternoon interview will be invited to attend a sim session . They do insist on the fact that no fees are payable for this assessment session . This was , BTW , for a DEC position but I suspect it will be the same for DEFO as well .

mikemorgan81 11th Mar 2016 08:42

Standard CTC assessment day then. Already failed one of those this year...:{
