docash1983 13th Aug 2011 19:18

and dont i now feel a tad stupid, thanks mate.

docash1983 14th Aug 2011 10:41

I know how you feel, I panicked, on the diameter one, even though the math questions were not that hard. I expected algebra problems (factorisation, rearranging equations etc) which was not the case. Those 3D cubes though, hats off to those who can do them without scratching their head! Overall I was surprised at the tests, unfortunately I dont think I will be getting an invite to Dublin.

Best of luck to you and all others who took the tests.

TIGER19919 14th Aug 2011 11:00

Will the air ticket be accounted for if one manages to pass the online tests?

RNAVapproach 14th Aug 2011 11:50

I submitted my application on Friday but haven't got any response regarding tests yet. Anyone else in the same boat. The closing date is today but is that for the application or the tests?

BerksFlyer 14th Aug 2011 11:54

Very much doubt it. Why would they pay for you to fly all the way from Singapore?

MylesSRi 14th Aug 2011 13:26

Yea. I submitted mine on Thursday night. Just got the automated email. Still no link to online test. However I'm presuming it's because HR is off Saturday's and Sunday's

Scandinavian123 14th Aug 2011 13:34

Same as RNAV and myles, i sent in my application Friday afternoon, hopefully they will reply the following week

stella di mare 15th Aug 2011 09:09

Scandinavian123, part of the online assessment is a verbal reasoning test. A text with a couple of questions. You can choose the language you like.

Scandinavian123 15th Aug 2011 14:35

@Stella.
Thanks for the reply :) could you choose Swedish for the test?

stella di mare 15th Aug 2011 14:56

I don't know? I'm not swedish and I do not remember all the available languages..

LadyB 16th Aug 2011 00:09

Just wondering from those that have already completed the online tests, are they anything like those that the Air Corps use? Thanks

Scandinavian123 16th Aug 2011 09:11

Does anybody know what a "complex control test" is? I googled it but didn't find anything :S

spoon84 17th Aug 2011 06:58

I did the test yesterday without any training and I found it quite interessting. Some task are quite difficult but I think that overall it's a good test for anyone that can be done without any training. You will not find any difficult math of physics, only basic formulas.
I loved the test where you have to "fly" in the middle of the holes....really nice :E:ok:
Now, waiting a feedback but I don't expect a lot, I did it because I want to try and see how it was... If it's positive really good if not...dont' mind.

Do you think we will receive an email also for negative answer?

NovemberDelta84 17th Aug 2011 09:10

@spoon84

not sure, probably not...

iFlyPilot 17th Aug 2011 09:56

@Spoon84, I am sure all candidates who attempted the online tests will receive an e-mail informing them of the next stage. However, I doubt feedback will be given as such for each individual test if one failed to make it to Dublin.

spoon84 17th Aug 2011 11:36

Yeah I understand this but I was wondering if they will give or not an answer to all the people who did the online assessment.
When I did the test for the ATC selection with SKyguide, they sent you an email at every stage saying YES you going forward or NOT, but anyway doesn't matter whatever they do it's fine! ;)

flyingmam254 17th Aug 2011 12:45

assessment

Anybody not recieved the link for the assessment yet? I sent my app saturday and only recieved the auto mail.

Q10 17th Aug 2011 12:57

They better send you the assessment asap. The longer they wait with the final assessments, the longer we have to wait for the results haha. Goodluck if you get 'em! :ok:

WILCO.XMG 17th Aug 2011 12:57

Dont worry flyingman. I am in the same boat.

it will take time, patience is needed.

MylesSRi 17th Aug 2011 13:42

I sent my application on Thursday night and didn't get my link until Monday evening, if you meet or exceed the criteria I'm pretty sure you are guaranteed an online assessment. It is probably the online assessment stage where they start weeding large amounts of people out.

flyingmam254 17th Aug 2011 14:46

grand, thanks a mill!

WILCO.XMG 17th Aug 2011 15:01

just got my invitation to sit the application there now flyingman.

im sure yours will be in soon.

flyingmam254 17th Aug 2011 16:35

yeah cheers, just got mine there now as well

Conor77 18th Aug 2011 21:43

Browser problems? Mac?

Anyone do the EI online tests on a mac? any browser issue to report?
thanks

RUaFool 19th Aug 2011 00:49

Question re fee

Could someone here who has applied for this Aer Lingus cadet training program tell me if there is or will be a fee charged for the selection process. If so, how much?

Conor77 19th Aug 2011 08:47

I have had issues in the past with Java applets on mac and just wondered if any one else had problems when doing the online test..

iFabio2 19th Aug 2011 10:00

I did it with a Macbook and had zero problems. Not sure if that was a java applet or some flash stuff though

fabio

spoon84 19th Aug 2011 14:30

I did it as well and worked fine!

WILCO.XMG 19th Aug 2011 14:54

A lot of the language used was quite poor i thought. I would have expected much more efficient way of explaining what was expected from each test.

In particular the Numerical section was quite poor.

RSTurbo50 19th Aug 2011 17:15

cadet

To all those asking what to expect from the test, just do it and you will find out. No offense but we are competing against one another so nobody is going to allow somerone else an advantage if you get me...that would be crazy..

Mike. 19th Aug 2011 18:03

Only people like you would say this say this kind of stuff.. people with no confinace.. and no belief in them selfs! The online assesment is only a litttle thing! the main thing is the Interview! If u can nail that then your better than others! People like you wont get too far in life any way dude http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ies/thumbs.gif What u need to learn before anything is to have a Big heart! then you'll never lose! But cos I'm not you I'm gonna do the test in a bit and give feedback to everyone! Cos I want everyone to be at the top! Not at the buttom like you http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...lies/wink2.gif

RSTurbo50 is entirely correct. Whilst charming, your sentiments are rather naive and I certainly don't think you are in a position to tell anyone that they 'wont get too far in life'. Are you sure your 21?

Morris542 19th Aug 2011 18:06

Might want to practise your nuclear physics and logarithms. I must admit I wasn't expecting an essay question on Hamlet, or the French listening comprehension...

Q10 19th Aug 2011 18:26

b737dude.

First u ask for advice about the assessments and when somebody correctly points out we are competing against eachother u say the assessments are nearly nothing(not important). So why do u ask for advice then ? No offense intended but at this stage of the selection process its every man/woman for him/herself. We'll work on that teambuilding in Dublin :ok:

RUaFool 19th Aug 2011 19:15

Two questions:
1. Does anybody know how many cadets they are going to take on?
2. Did any of you who have applied pay a fee to do the online test?

An answer to these questions would be much appreciated. I entered this "competition" about 10 or more years ago (in my innocence) and can give you all some clue about the process if anybody's interested. But first, I need to know if anything has changed since I entered, and I need to know if you were charged a fee to enter or if you will have to pay a fee if you are "selected" for the Dublin hotel interview. If so, how much? Thanks

MylesSRi 19th Aug 2011 19:20

Anyone care to give a guesstimation as to when they will start informing individuals if they are to attend Dublin for further assessment?? I personally reckon they will be sending emails out within a week or two weeks time.

BerksFlyer 19th Aug 2011 19:24

Start of next week I reckon. I'm interested to know whether the initial application will have any weight behind it at this stage or whether its purely going to be on your score in the assessments.

MylesSRi 19th Aug 2011 19:37

Yes I reckon the initial application will have a lot of weight. Otherwise, I don't think they would of asked for much information on your extra ciricular activities, positions of responsibility etc etc.

RSTurbo50 19th Aug 2011 20:37

B737 Dude, I have no idea what you are talking about to be honest but at this stage it is every man for himself and as a couple of the guys rightly pointed out, the team building shall begin in Dublin should we proceed to the next phase....

Just do the test, if your successful and get through great but at 21, i very much doubt your in a position to preach the complexities of how one is to get far in life at such a young age...

Best of luck everyone and fingers crossed.. ;)

MylesSRi 19th Aug 2011 23:11

Ruafool

1. The rumour is 20.

2. No, there has been no fee for the online test.

RUaFool 20th Aug 2011 00:45

Thanks Myles for the info. When you do get "the call" to move into the next stage (and I do think everyone will get the call) please let me know if there's a fee involved then and I will write more at that time because there are some things you all need to be aware of. I've gone through this about ten or more years ago and I will tell you my experience.

Secondly, the idea of RUMOURS being the only source of information as to how many openings there are is kind of strange, don't you think? What if it's ONE? Don't you all want to know what your odds are? Why aren't you all DEMANDING from Aer Lingus this information? RUMOURS are not information.

Keep me informed if there's a fee for the next stage. Thanks.
