i take not many people have ever worked for an agency before. any company with a high turn over of staff they don't want the paper work to deal with so they get some one else to do it. it's easyer and cheaper.

Someone posted earlier that pilots are now taking second jobs I am hoping that was an exception and not becoming the norm. |
keep an eye on this thread. Whatever the outcome of the court cases in the offing, you may discover a little more of what Ryanair pilots think of their company.

I am out money and Ideas
Hi Guys
I am new to pprune, I have over 800 hrs and still had no luck with any airline big or small.I was considering going back to the bank and try to get the money together, to join Ryan Air. After reading what some of you guys have been through, I have STOPPED in my tracks. question is where do we go now???????:ugh: |
biggles,
continue to send CV... apply to CTC, CAE and airlines. one of these guys will contact you. |
Nuclear Weapon,
It is a recipe for future deficits. yes it is cheaper initially but what happens when 80% of your stafff decide to become agency. While I was with the nhs I used to get £11-£15/hr on sundays depending on where I worked but the agency was charging the hospital £23/hr An effiicient organisation will see less benefit from contractors, the NHS... Basically, there are medium and long term benefits too, I would have thought especially so in a non-knowledge based roles such as the flight deck. |
Difference between JAR 25 pilot and Cadet when aplying for RYAN???
Could anyone explain me the difference when applying for RYAN between a JAR 25 expericence pilot and a Cadet?
Thanks in advance |
Dart
Thanks, thats what I am doing. I did apply to CTC but didn't get pass the application level. no feed back. I guess so many people apply that they simply can't give feed back to every one. i thinks its a great shame that after all the hard work and expense, people like myself are yet again asked to come up with more money. Its reached the stage that the banks are now saying no to anymore money, this is in my own case as I had to fund all of my training myself. biggles |
Cadet = a frozen ATPL (meaning in real terms a CPL and IR) and at least 200 hours fixed wing according to their website
JAR25 = multi pilot transport category aircraft - to which Ryanair require you to have at least 1500 hours in order to qualify as a direct entry first officer |
Thanks for your reply. I already knew the difference in terms of requirements but what I want to know is the diffrence in terms of the cost of the type rating, salaries, selection process, etc...
|
Selection process - same, T/R - same, salaries - depending on contract, but generally speaking a JAR-25 candidate starts as a First Officer, and a cadet starts as a Second Officer (becoming a First Officer after a year).
|
What's the salary for a First Officer? and for a Second Officer?
Thanks again. I'm seriouslly considering applying for Ryanair as a JAR 25 pilot |
Hi Guys.
I have just been contacted by CAE to confirm my availability to go throw their selections but i have a question. The 23K and more for the TR are to be paid cash or we are talking about some kind of Bond? thank you in advance to everybody cheers MV |
I was contacted also but had to turn down the offer after research. The money for the type 25,000 euros you have to pay from your own pocket,no salary while doing the type training about 6 weeks I understand, then you have to pay for uniforms, ids, parking etc.It is alot of money for anyone to come with.I would love to fly the 738 but right now the grass looks greener on myside after fully researching what they offer you.Just my small opinion\
regards |
Type rating is €28,000 with CAE (incl. VAT). You have to pay for uniform. No requirement for ID over there. Parking is free.
|
Is it true that from now every cadet gets a Brookfield contract and only gets paid the flown blockhours?
|
Manuelvi,
when did you first apply? |

I am asking this since I applied almost one year ago :( You know, these guys are so fu**ing looking for money that they are able to tell a guy which is already rated to undergo again for the same training in order to get in.. I've seen strange things in my life but this is way out of my respect for the Human race.:ugh: :ugh: Cheers MV |
If I may ask what aircraft were you rated on already. As I am not rated and submitted my application mid september. The last time i spoke with CAE in early december they told me they wer dealing with those that applied in april so if you applied in june I am assuming they've moved forward a bit.

Why not take your rating to easyjet where you will have a better chance as they are looking for bus drivers. Just my own opinion. Did they call or sent you an email.
I think it's obvious that i'm interested in Easy. The difference is that i have applyed to CAE on June and i got rated in November. Anyway easy wants 50Hrs on Type and i have not at the present time. Bye |
hi,
I have applied in April, and I start my training with CAE on the 320 next week. (not ryanair). it is hell expensive (24'000+8000euro for base training) add accommodation, food, transport, license fee,... regrettably, this is the only training/job I have found which "worths" the money spent .I wanted be sponsored, but no luck! |
dartagnan,
which company is? Vueling? |
I got also contacted by CAE on the 4th. Is there a chance of getting bonded? I don't have any possibility nor will to self sponsor, so bonding is the only possibility. If anyone is interested: Applied ~1year ago, TT400 at the time, no TR.

I asked to the person which contacted me if there was a possibility to get bonded and the answer was no. Even more if you are already rated for them you have to undergo again for the same course if you want to join the selected airline. Man only one thing, i know it can look like an hell of money but beleive me if an airline calls you and like with ryan u get a job after it is well worth it. Just my coin. Cherrs MV |
Thanks Manuelvi for your reply, from reading these endless RyanAir threads I have a feeling that these things could negotiable, I may be very wrong though.
I know the information is encryped in these long threads, but if I'm very concerned about the starting salary. What is one to expect when the paychecks start rolling and when does this happen? If anyone has current info, please... |
Thinking of paying for Type Rating
Evening all!
After spending the last 6 months post training looking to take my first steps onto the Airline Pilot career ladder without any success of anything happening as yet I am thinking of trying to raise the cash to pay for a TR. Whats the best way to go about trying to get an assesment with Ryan Air? Do I need to have a contact there to get in and do they have an age limit(I'm 33)? I obviously would prefer to have an offer of a job before shelling out £20,000 on the TR. Any advice would be really appreciated as this is a new road that I am travelling!! Cheers:eek: |
Ramshorn,
Tried to PM you some info but your mailbox is full :ugh: |
Hi
Can anyone please comment (preferebly a RYAN F/O) on what salaries for FO's are like when fully trained for example: What would a fully trained FO (not SO), UK based Ryanair (not contracted) earn on average per yr BEFORE tax (i.e salary)..Just an average idea. Any feedback gratefully recieved Cheers |
Please read this whole thread. Then do a search on Terms and Endearments. Further salary information can be had from PPJN. All the information is available already.

Isn´t Ryanair taking more JAR 25 first officers?
Isn´t Ryanair taking more JAR 25 first officers (no 737 type rating)? I have been looking in their website but found nothing
|
You where looking to fast then i believe;
http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/about...eers&ref=10002 If you go all the way down you will see a table explaining the minimun requierements for entry as Captain, First Officer and Cadet. ;) Cadets need 200hours fixed wing. As first officer you must have a type rating and minimum 500hrs on type it says, so.. Know, if they are accepting cadets or not is another thing, you will have to check with them. Better to start as that than nothing. :ok: Good luck! /niko |
TheOne83,
If you look, First Officers are to be 737 rated. No generic JAR25 experience allowance as for Captain. There used to be. Web Master finger trouble? |
I few days ago in the Ryanair website you could see there were another possibility to aply directly from their website if you had at least 1500 hours JAR 25 experience. You can still see it at CAE web

If succesful non-rated first officers would have to acquiere a B737-800 rating.. So if i don't get it wrong you can apply as first officer with and with out type rating, but if u don't have one u will have to get it before u join the airline and start working for them. cheers! |
With this paragraph, looks like a row is missing:
Successful non-rated First Officers will have to acquire a 737-800 rating with a Ryanair approved training organisation. Follow the link below for details of approved training organisations. |
RyanAir Pay SSTR Scheme
I wonder if a newly recruited F/O could give me an up to date figure of what you get paid whilst on the TR scheme please.
I understand that whilst doing the type rating the pay is nil but what do you get paid during line training? This will form the basis of whether I can afford to go down this route? Mods - Please do not merge this thread and yes I have searched the forum already but keep getting conflicting stories. Any up2date accurate figures via PM or otherwise would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers............TJ |
