They state on their website that they are not recruiting but I've heard that they have offered interviews lately.
I recently sent them an updated copy of my CV and application form and didn't recieve the usual post card in reply. They must be busy doing something??

LC are unlikely to recruit any DE captains. At least if they do there will be some seriously upset FOs, like about 15! But I believe there is a slow but steady intake of new FOs. I think there are 3 starting courses next month. It does help if you know someone. You can download an application form from the website I think. My top tip: for the long answer questions do a search of The Scotsman website for LC related headlines and stories. There are plenty of them!

Might all change big time when the BACx Scotttish turbo-prop routes free up. Question is will their crews and ATPs/Dash 8s come across as part of the deal ?

Disappointment
Hi Guys
I wrote to Loganair in reply got the post card reply, very upset dont know what tey are looking for. I have all their requirement as well as over 1200hrs flying plenty turboprop experience still no joy.
Could someone tell me if they have taken any low time pilots recently. I just dont know what to do. I have experience still got rejected.

Seems to be the way of the industry at the moment. I'm afraid I don't know if they have taken anybody on recently, or if they are just thinking about it. As I stated before. I got an application form from them, but I haven't heard anything else. I have a drawer full of letters from them as well.
Hang in there, the job market should sort itself out one day

They have been taking on a few guys here and there, I believe 2 or 3 this month, mostly low hour (250) including some ex lingus cadets. Expansion and FO's off to easy means there should be more recruitment but I understand they already have an interview pool.
An ex student of mine is at OAT where his class was told " logan will only be recruiting OAT recommendations". Another case of dubious marketing at "the worlds leading FTO" or am I just cynical?

I know that one low hour pilot starting this month was from OAT, so perhaps it is true, although I believe a Scottish address helps too.
Myself, I got the old post card reply a few months back and no phone call this time round

Selection process
A few years ago BA, recruited a handful of self funding students from Oxford and Prestwick. Some of the criteria were, pass the BA selection procedure, average 85%+ in the CAA exams, good flying test results including a first time pass at the IRT, AND formal recommendation from the FTO.
To improve your chances of employment, it is important that LONG course students do well; mere attendance, and obtaining a licence will only work when jobs are a plenty.
Look at it from the employers point of view : why take on somebody who may be a training risk who might not succeed either in the sim / line training. That costs money. Why take the risk when there are so many to choose from?

I think that sorry to say,you are talking out of your a$$.
What about the unprivileged that are unable to fund a fulltime course at OAT, but have all the requisites and unfortunately have studied via distance. That shows determination and before you label some as ‘’just attending class’’ maybe take a look at their other education and see how well they performed there as well. A levels in their nineties, Degree via distance etc. Another example that HR is an invented science, as it cannot determine the right person from a host of backgrounds and rather chooses to only take on 509ers!
It is a known fact that all from OAT and the likes are not pure guarantee to pass a type course.

My comments were directed at CAA long course customers [509 ers]. I spent a number of years training them.
As for the modular route - this is a more difficult way to obtain a licence. Prior to that becoming available, the self improver route was the only [military excluded] other way to obtain a licence.
As a self improver, I know what it is like mixing work with jumping through the CAA hoops.
