Uk Cpl Fi(a) Now Need Work !
Just got my UK flight instructors ticket (CPL holder already)
Current Base is Exeter, 39, married 2 young kids, passion is flying so now wish to get out of the corporate 9-5 nonsense and fly as a professional instructor. Lots of management , IT and people skills. Very personable and motivated !
Need a job that will pay the bills but time has come for flying career change.
Can anyone help me start my new career ?

To be honest you need to follow the advice of Old Heseltine and "get on your bike"!
Get yourself around as many flying training organisations as possible, also try the Air Cadets.
I know of two chaps who have very recently passed FI and "got on their bikes" and one had 3 job offers in one day, the other two in two so the work is out there you just have to find it!
I know this wasnt particularly the answer you were looking for but to be honest I really dont think a flying school is going to offer you a sniff of a job from a plea on PPRuNe.

Right so all I need now is a "toggle" and a boy scout uniform and a pump so that I can pump up the flat tyre on my bike !

Limey, you asked for help, if someone takes the time to make a suggestion I believe that thats help, if you dont want it dont ask!
And as for the Air Cadets, a very good friend of mine instructs for them at weekends and gets paid for it! OK it may not be a great start but its a start, and with the aviation business as it is right now I dont believe anyone can afford to not consider EVERY option!
And if you're as sarcastic as that I suspect that you wont have too many students lasting the course with you! people skills you said?!?

It's only a bulletin board, no need to get quite so angry
I am quite prepared to "get on my bike" and am no stranger to travel having lived and worked abroad for a number of years. Before I get on my bike and pedal up the M5 I thought it might be a good idea to let people know that I am looking in case they know of any openings. I have not put any limitations on where I work or what I do so don't worry - If I get word of a job with reasonable pay I will consider any country.

Instructor Vacancies
Although they may have been filled, with reference to my post on the Jobs section CABAIR should have a few vacancies for PPL instruction.
Not sure what the pay is like but it used to be fairly good (by PPL instructor levels).
Probably worth a call on the off chance although not your geographical area.

Try Cabair by all means as they are one of the few schools that pay a salary. However be prepared for a few nasty remarks at the interview if you are married and do not live near one of their bases.
I was offered a job with them on the proviso that I was not to go home on my weekends off to see my wife, as they didn't want their instructors spending their days off driving down the motorway!
What I choose to do on my days off is usually my business, but not with these guys. This was meant in all seriousness. I was told that they would offer me the position (Redhill or Elsetree at the time) but not to make plans for my days off.
The point they were making was, even though you may be prepared to obtain accomodation near their schools and spend the working week there, you should put them first. Not realistic if you have a family and want a reasonable balance in your life.
BTW I turned the job down and got non-salaried one nearer home. Less money but still got the hours.

Those few instructors left on the salary scheme were either made redundant, had new contracts offered or have resigned. Pay as You Fly is the new scheme and as I understand it there is no retainer and a simple wage structure based on revenue hours flown.

You couldn't get farther away from Exeter if you tried, but if you were to fire in a CV to my old outfit, Tayside Aviation (in Scotland), you never know your luck. I do know that in the last couple of weeks, two of his most long-term instructors have just had the golden phone call from airlines.

SiD, glad to hear things have improved. Didn't know CH had left but obviously things are now for the better.

Be prepared to work for next to nowt and you will probably find a whole load of willing employers. Thought of glider/banner towing to build your hours or ferrying? Maybe a trip to darkest Africa might find you a seat.
I am way behind you, but like looking for all jobs, you gotta give it some mither and remember most jobs aren't advertised.
