And don't forget to neglect to mention any ability to speak French, German, Russian or Chinese.

Also, remember to salute the Stars & Stripes, George W Bush is your hero, MacDonalds is haute cuisine, 250lbs is a healthy adult body weight, the USA makes great cars, the USA single-handedly won every war (even if they weren't there) and Mrs. Bush doesn't look like the Joker from Batman.

Oh, and if you are a muslim, forget it. Remember Iraq can have any democracy it likes as long as it is non-islamic and US approved. Don't ya just love freedom.

There is already an Iraqi Airways, with a fleet of 727s and 707s parked in Jordan and elsewhere, and lots of qualified and experienced pilots, plus many more working in exile. They have an outstanding order for a dozen Airbus 320s, frozen since 1990 or whenever, but even during the past few years they continued to operate flights using old Soviet aircraft - for which they could get spares and training. So I wouldn't have thought there's many pilot jobs opening up - but plenty of new jobs for consultants etc...

I rather suspect the A320 order will remain frozen indefinitely.

Yawn, yawn....we all hate America....they know nothing.....they are all thick....they never do anything right.....blah, blah. A nation of donkeys, blah, blah, led by idiots etc........

Crack up - well done mate. Someone with a bit of sense at last. I am not a yank but I am not ashamed to say that I think they have just done a great job, and I am absolutely delighted that our armed forces stood shoulder to shoulder with them. Witchdoctor et al ... read a bit of history mate and you will find the reason you have the freedom to speak against countries you don't like is because America won it for you.

And before you start telling me what a great world it would be without America just ask yourself this, "If America was a lesser power militarily and any one of the Russians, Chinese or Germans were more powerful than them would you sleep better in your bed at night?"

The yanks are the best friends this country has ever had, When push come to shove, do you want to have to rely on the French, the Germans or, God forbid, the Belgians? I know where my bread is buttered and it certainly is not with our European 'mates'.

Man, I feel better for that!

All I'll say is that we were none too pleased in 1968 when the Soviet Union was going around surreptitiously undermining democratic governments (=elected government, able to exercise right to self-determination) and then sending in the tanks (eg Czechoslovakia) if they resisted. Meanwhile the US was gallantly donating lives in Vietnam trying to stop the spread of Communism. (=evil repressive ideology).

30-odd years later the US is now surreptitiously undermining democratic socialist governments (eg Venezuela, Argentina etc) in the name of "free trade" (unregulated, unelected and unaccountable) whilst sending the tanks into [insert name of favourite "rogue state" here] - if they resist the "democratic" asset-stripping corporate armies of America.

Sooner or later, as long as there's no opposition, the biggest kid on the block always becomes a bully. Before long there won't have to be any excuses.

This forum is not for debates about current affairs, politics, or your opinions for or against America - or any other country. As you cannot stick to the subject of the potential for flying jobs in Iraq, I shall close the topic. Do your political arguing in Jet Blast or the new current affairs forum (can't remember its title!).
