Interview Techniques Course?
Just wondering if anyone can provide a link or any feedback on a course you've been on ie: cost, worthwhile etc..
I understand Oxford provide such a course from time to time, but there is also a company which specialises in this somewhere, believe it's run by a woman on her own who was involved with airline recruitment for some years.
Cheers, MG.

I can highly recommend the AOT course at Coventry, it’s a two day course designed and presented by a team guys and girls that actually do the pilot selection for the Airline they work for…!
An excellent course full of invaluable information but, be warned; the après course drinky poo’s on the Saturday night can continue into Sunday…!
There have been a few threads about the course so suggest your try a search for AOT, alternatively there website is at www.aotraining.net
Good luck

Hi Morning Glory;
Have not heard from you in ages. As for your query, go with Penny Austin. I spoke to her on the phone and she sounded like she knows her stuff. She has a website but dont know the address. Maybe someone else does.
I am working now. Started four days after finishing IR. Island hopping round the Med. E-mail me and I will tell you all about it. XX

Wouldn't be flying jets if it hadn't been for Penny Austin. Others may be as good or even better, but Penny is one to one and does it because she wants to not because she has to. Must be worth something.

I have also used Penny recently and found the interview for a recent sponsorship opportunity very easy - I got through so what more proof do you need that she is well worth the money?
Nice lady, good course, good feedback. Enough said.

I attended a recent AOT seminar in Coventry. Excellent course and well run by professional recruiting captains. Would definately recommend it. Forgotten the website address but got the info from Balpa. Just passed my first job interview and the advice I had been given was spot on. Hope this helps.

I attended the second of the AOT courses run by a team of dedicated professional people. I was most impressed with the service, the instruction and the insight from the recruiters direct. I don't believe that you will get a more up todate 'heads up' than the AOT course. They will also be more than happy to offer advice further down the line, once you have attended the initial course!!
There may well be other courses, but this one worked for me, I am in full time flying, thanks to them.
Very highly recommended!!!

Have recently attended my first interview for a jet job since attending the AOT course. The interview was successful and I have been offered my first jet appointment on an aircraft that until a few weeks ago I would only have dreamed about flying. The AOT course is conducted in a very professional manner and focuses on the key areas common to many airline recruitment processes. It costs no more than an hours training rate on a light twin and for that you are taken through the recruitment process from cv construction to final interview. If like me you are not familiar with group exercises and interview technique it is a must.

Hi. I am attending the AOT seminar being held this weekend in Coventry. It is run by very experienced airline assessors and comes highly recommended by many of my friends. There are two of us travelling up from the Watford area and there is space in the car if you want to send me a private message? Their website is www.aotraining.net

Caped Vulture, I can highly recommend PilotPete's course that he runs. Check out http://www.pittraining.co.uk
I've been on it so this doesn't class as clandestine advertising!

Just wondering, what makes Pilot pete qualified to run a course such as this?
He hasn't been in the industry very long and just because he has been successful in a few slection procedures doesn't make him an expert.
The whole "Ive been in the TA", "Ive worked in IT" doesnt qualify for this role either.
If I were going to pay £150 + travel expenses for a course such as this I would expect somebody with years of experience in the airlines, followed by experience being a selector for an airline. i.e someone involved with an airlines selection team, perhaps a role i the HR department of some other orgainization would have been helpful also.
I was successful in a sponsorship selection process and have been on the line for about three years more than pilot pete. I was also in the RAFVR for four years at university. I wouldnt consider myself qualified for this role.
However if its useful, it is useful and well done to pilot Pete for having the entrepreneurship to run a scheme such as this.
