Flying and Jobs in Ibiza/ Mallorca
Hi there
I am going to Ibiza and Mallorca in a couple of weeks in search of seasonal flying work - banner towing, aerial photography -whatever I can find basically.
I have over 800 hours' experience, from training and instructing and an FAA and JAA cpl/ir.
Can anyone provide me with some friendly advice - which airports to go to to find work, contacts, ideas, opinions that I'm wasting my time - any info would be appreciated.
Cheers

I have a pad out in Mallorca, and the only airfield that you'd find any work there is Son Bonet. I've flown out of there, and I have to say that there is hardly any activity for employment from what I've see.
Also flown from the field in Menorca, and that's even quieter.
Sorry if I sound negative, but I'm just trying to tell it to you the way I find it.

I did a PPL there a couple of years ago in may. Every day there were at least 2 planes doing banner towing over the main resorts (magaluf). They were Spanish pilots flying out of Son Bonet - I don't know which company they worked for. Also a couple of water bombing planes and a Bell 212 were fairly busy fighting fires.
Son Bonet is a small field, very close to Palma Int with no ATC, just a traffic frequency. For local advise you might ask at Sloane Helicopters, a UK firm with a base at Son Bonet. Good luck.

Ah, magaluf......
Re the fire fighters, I think you will find that they are flown by the military. The CL215 (I think there is only one now) is based out of a base in Puerto Pollensa. Great fun watching it.

Cheers for the info guys.
Looks like I might be waisting my time if I do go. I'm assuming it would be the same story in Ibiza too? Does anyone have any info regarding Ibiza? Or any seasonal work, anywhere, in the whole entire world?
Would consider anything.

I was in IBZ last year (August) for a week nr San Antonio bay and saw the same a/c flying the same route all day long. Whether it was the same pilot I don't know but work permits aside with an FAA license I often see banner towing jobs advertised on climbto350.com
