Can confirm.
Can also confirm that the amount of flight experience isn't a key factor. I got speaking to another candidate with a couple hundred hours of a PPL and they were pretty confident of their afternoon session being confirmed due their experience, only to be told they weren't progressing to the afternoon panel interview.

My return flight was around 7pm but I was out of the panel interview by 3 or 4 and back to the airport for 5. Thankfully getting through the airport was pretty straight forward, so had time for an overpriced contemplative pint of the black stuff.

Or is it just a case of such an amount of applications that only got to some last week and could as easily have been way off on the tests - could have as easily been rejected a few weeks ago if you were positioned differently in the pile? I suppose the question I'm asking is does it mean anything to have not gotten rejection at a late stage? Was my second time applying and I'm a bit older so wondering this time if perhaps I'd scored ok but maybe a call made on CV that just not the right fit. My rejection last year was much earlier - max three weeks (knew it was coming as well as had a couple of tech issues on the day that messed up a couple of tests). Genuinely not trying to analyse the thing any more that it should be - appreciate thousands of applications and open to the likely fact that just a number rejected like anyone else as not hitting the mark.
Hi all, this message posted late for some reason and might have got lost above (I take no offence if just a case of nobody having a response!), but just in case asking again - anyone know if any significance in the timing of getting rejections? Does getting one last week mean anything vrs getting it a couple of weeks before that? Does it mean scored higher and were in the mix, or mean nothing at all. Many thanks.

Wink

Hello all,
Thank you for everyone posting on this forum as it is genuinely very helpful and informative.
Those who have previously done the assessment day last year; do you remember how many interviewers were in the panel interview and was it quite daunting? Feeling slightly nervous about the big day!

Is anyone aware if whether they bias Irish nationals? Are UK residents at a disadvantage?

Group interviews/assessments were tables of about 6, then a 1-1 speed interview that lasted ~5-10 mins, and panel consisted of 2 - 1 airline member (pilot) and 1 recruiter from the agency.

Set up might be different this time round.

I don’t think there would be any bias due to the comprehensive anti-discrimination laws that are in place. What matters is that you have the right to live and work in Ireland, regardless of nationality.

Separate from the hiring process, non-residents should consider the cost of living in Ireland and availability of accommodation if successful - plan/budget ahead! This is a hot topic in Ireland at the moment.

don’t know about bias. But do know for those needing to fly in from foreign shores the interview process is costly financially. Hotel overnight, flight costs and food. Spent just short of Ł250 last year and wasn’t selected. Met one guy who had flown in from France and his flight home wasn’t for 3 days post assessment day . He didn’t make it passed the morning session, and had spent Ł800 to attend. Of course that amount is tiny if you are selected, but it’s difficult to swallow when you aren’t. I wish they only took smaller numbers to Dublin and introduced a video stage like BA do. That way, those that go to Dublin are in with a real shot of selection rather than a mass event where so little are overall selected. Last year 600 went to Dublin I believe for 30 places. It’s costing candidates a lot to attend.

Hi,

Has anyone received any additional information about the assessment center?

I got my invitation last Wednesday, quickly booked a date, got a confirmation mail saying : " .. Recruitment team will be reaching out to you with further details of the Assessment Day"
I started organizing my trip to Dublin, but it would be also good to know how could start preparing for the interview.

As I read the feedbacks from previous years I got the feeling that you can not really prepare - there were no exercises that would require memorizing math and physics formulas - just try to get well rested and bring your A game

Hadika, I think I know you. I’ve sent you a private message to say hi again! Good luck in Dublin!

Got told today the fact that I didn’t have a leaving cert was overlooked, I should have been rejected in the initial phase! They said I “got through” which means I made it to the assessment centre or just passed the initial screen I don’t know, but then they realised I had no LC. Next year I suppose, good luck people

Unless you got an invite to the assessment centre, I think they probably meant you got through to the online assessments but were essentially wasting your time as you need an LC

For people who went to school in the UK, are both GCSE and A-Level certificates required on the day or is it just one or the other?

A leaving certificate isn't a graduation certificate it's a copy of your results of your final year exams. So bring a copy of your A levels

I took my university and SQA (Scottish qualifications) transcripts as they have my entire education history on them (high school - college). They accepted those.

So I presume if you studied in the uk you would
need your GCSEs and A levels? Uk degree is classed a level 6 unless you done a masters which is classed as level 7?

I received a confirmation email to go to Dublin, I will be going on June 11. I am quite lost in how I can prepare or what type of questions I should expect for the short interview. I would really appreciate if someone who got to this phase last year could give me some insight or advice. Sorry to hear about those who didn't pass the initial phase, feel free to message me privately if you have any doubts or want tips about how I prepared for these.
