Cadetship opportunities - Europe?

Hey all,

I'm new here, I hope we are all well.

I'm very much interested into getting into airline flight crew operations as a pilot.

I currently have zero meaningful experience and having spoken to a relative in the industry and my own research - I've found due to my financial situation entering into a cadetship is likely to be my only option.

He recommended checking this forum as to whether there is anything out there. I've been lurking for a few months and not really seen much that looks like it could hold much promise. The closest thing I've seen is what WizzAir are doing which even still looks a bit of a struggle for people in my scenario!

I suppose the reason for me posting here today is that I'm regularly seeing information regarding pilot shortages however it still appears there is limited opportunity for newer pilots. Or perhaps I don't have a good enough understanding of what's going on! Is this just a consequence of what happened during covid? I guess airlines are still first reaching out to those that may have lost their jobs during covid?

I was also wondering if anyone has any other bright ideas for someone in my position with limited capital to get in to training?

Thank you for reading!

Rob

I'm in a similar position to yourself, my only option has been self funded modular whilst working as many have done before.

If self funding and training modular isn't an option, the only way around the financial barrier would be a fully funded scheme (which are few and far between these days).

A big ATO in Jerez ran a scholarship recently an Irish carrier ran fully funded ATPL schemes annually prior to covid - with a strong chance these will return.

Otherwise your best bet is to research modular ATPL training and get cracking!
