PBN

With the recent need to cover PBN training in courses, is anyone finding applications needing the endorsement on their licence? It's all in it's infancy at the moment and I haven't seen any references in any recruitment but any heads up appreciated. It can be covered now but GPS approaches aren't too numerous so it seems more sensible to wait.

It depends on the type of flying you're looking to do. It's a lot more common at commercial airfields of course.

PBN is actually endorsed at the type rating stage in most cases. At least within EASA land. I didn't have it endorsed with my IR as the examiner himself wasn't PBN approved for assessment purposes, despite me completing a PBN/RNAV approach for the 2D/NPA requirement to be met. I imagine the type ratings providing PBN endorsement for a few years more yet. Although, if you have the option to have it done earlier in your training I can't see that being a big issue.

With the type rating and PBN being accompanied, I hadn't seen any job descriptions requiring it.

I've come across a couple of job postings requiring the PBN endorsement on the license. It's one way to weed out applicants and make the job for the HR people easier. The funny thing is that my current CAA doesn't even print it on the license for now.
