It can be covered now but GPS approaches aren't too numerous so it seems more sensible to wait.
It depends on the type of flying you're looking to do. It's a lot more common at commercial airfields of course.
PBN is actually endorsed at the type rating stage in most cases. At least within EASA land. I didn't have it endorsed with my IR as the examiner himself wasn't PBN approved for assessment purposes, despite me completing a PBN/RNAV approach for the 2D/NPA requirement to be met. I imagine the type ratings providing PBN endorsement for a few years more yet. Although, if you have the option to have it done earlier in your training I can't see that being a big issue.
With the type rating and PBN being accompanied, I hadn't seen any job descriptions requiring it.
