CTC / CAE Oxford
Hi,
On Tuesday I will have de CTC Selection for the Integrated ATPL with CTC Wings.
I had an other selection, for the easyJet MPL a few month ago with the CAE Oxford. I missed the last selection, but with my results, I have been accepted for the classic integrated ATPL with them.
I still have 6 months to tell them my answer.
If i succesfully pass the CTC selection, I will go there.
But if I not, I wonder what to do between going with the CAE Oxford or just wait to try the CTC again ..
What would you advise me between these two possibilities, in considering that I may lost my invitation for the course with the CAE ?
Because I am aware that the job opportunities are better after a course with the CTC than the CAE, but is the difference huge ?
Thanks for reading and answering me.
P.S : Sorry for the mistakes, I am French and I can speak fluently, but not writte very well ..

I can confirm what FlyingGreek just said about oxford, I spoke to a former student of theirs who had just landed a job but it took him over 2 years. During that time he felt like he got no support and wasn't kept informed about the hiring situation. He also felt that for their £90k he and his fellow students could have been treated a lot better by Oxford during the training. I'm not saying CTC will treat you any different during training but do your research thoroughly and make an informed decision.

I think I'm in the exact same situation as you Theo! We may have met at the Easyjet MPL.
I'm very, very tempted to apply for CTC too, but having to do the aptitude tests, group tasks and interviews again is putting me off, plus there's the £250 fee for that. It's £250 and two days-off work to get to the same stage I'm with at CAE.
The last time I was at CAE, I spoke with their graduate services man, and he was saying that 98% of their graduates will get a placement, but he did emphasise that you have to get over 90% in all of your exams to quickly get a job. What I think he was trying to say was that it should be a joint-effort between the trainee and the school, not for someone to under-perform and hide behind the name of the school, expecting to get a job.
I think you need to consider who you talk to about employment opportunities. A top student with the best marks, who lands a job straight-away, is bound to have a different opinion about a school to someone who scrapes-through with a few resits, and has to wait two years for an interview.
I have my Class 1 medical next week, so if I pass I might just apply to CTC too, it's worth a try
Good luck, and we may bump into each other!

Hello,
Great news, I have succesfully passed the CTC Wings Whitetail integrated ATPL selection !!
To answer you, I would say the I have been told by several pilots that the main difference between these two schools is that you are alone to find a job after graduated from CAE when there is a special team for that in CTC ..
And compared to the price of the formation I think that it can be a good idea to try the CTC (at least once) before chosing the CAE.
In trying the CTC selection, I realized that they look much more proffessional than the CAE ..

To your original question - Recruitment is booming right now, if you don't get CTC go to CAE and start asap! You don't want to miss the boom and finish in a period of low recruitment.
I can confirm CAE has a dedicated team to get you a job with CV and interview courses for graduates. Graduates with flying jobs almost always get them through the school. A tiny minority get themselves a job entirely on their own.
At my current airline we have both CAE and CTC cadets that both say terrible things about their respective training organisations. From what I've heard chances of a job after CTC are a little better than CAE.
A CTC grad told me the orange airline is most likely for white tails and their first year contracts are terrible. If you have to do any retake in the TR (unlikely) you could get dropped.
Either CTC or CAE will give you the best chance of a jet career and thats what matters!!
I may sound doom and gloom, but I'll guarantee you'll have an absolute blast training at any school and the hour building will be some of the best flying you ever do. I made life long friends I still bump in to at different airports from time to time - Sometimes they are working as cabin crew STILL looking for a job!!
PS. My personal opinion on the 98% figure thrown around by CAE... Input error.
Good luck

Daniel here from the selection day on Tuesday. I tried to send a PM but wouldn't allow me. First off, congratulations! I've also passed selection and hoping to start around September..when are you wanting to start?
I too share the same impression that CTC is more professional, and suits my personality. I would only want to pay 100k for the best.
Best wishes,
Daniel

CTC give fantastic job opportunities! Very good chances of getting to the RHS at the end of training but you do of course need to meet a standard throughout training. Also the "2 opportunities and throw you out" thing isn't true...
