First officer position opportunities
Hello there,
I am curious to hear the opinion or rather , the interpretation of all of you pilots, about the ongoing job requirement in the past decade for 500 hours on type for a first officer pilot job.
It is remarkably wide common to see that on the Asian market job adds.
For how long do you guys think this illogical requirement will last?
I assume there must be enough experienced pilots to fill the vast number of pilot jobs now days...
I am a flight instructor and a FAA CPL. 1000TT
Does anyone think that someday Asian market will resume to demand 1500TT (or so) like the US market?

Asian companies are mostly looking for qualified Captains. They can produce local FOs in a matter of months but making a Captain takes a few years of on the job experience, hence I don't think the bare 1500TT expat will be sought anytime soon.
