Standard CTC assessment day then. Already failed one of those this year...

Hi guys I'm just curious what background you current applicants have? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to build up a picture of what jobs are genuinely out there for low hours pilots and what's required to actually get the job. Any responses would be greatly appreciated

I went for an interview recently and there was a huge mix of pilots. Someone from the RAF, a few cadets from CTC, cabin crew, at least one with a fair bit of biz jet experience.

It is true about CTC, they told us at the interview! Real shame as I can guarantee as a non CTC pilot I would have not got in if I had interviewed via the CTC route.

FO Selection

Hi, has anyone (none CTC associated pilots) been invited for a CTC selection day? I applied last week for FO. I know its early.

I'm a bit confused by this.

Now CTC are running the application portal does that mean that they could "discriminate" against non CTC pilots?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

"Discriminate against non-CTC pilots" might be a tad harsh, but I'd certainly be concerned if they were favouring CTC-trained FO applicants over everyone else. I wonder who's sense-checking the recruitment process now that FlyBe have effectively handed it over??

Spoke to one of my former students over the weekend who's recently graduated from CTC. Said that they weren't applying through the new portal but through their existing hold pool. So perhaps there's some hope for the non-CTCers...

I'd say you can relax about CTC-ers getting preference, the recruitment demand is so high that there simply wouldn't be enough from CTC alone!

Not sure I follow the 16hr JOC comment, I didn't see any reference to JOC course on the CTC application form (only MCC).

Cancel my last, just has a scan through the CTC (Flybe) app form. There is reference to JOC and where you did it. A cynic might suggest they are using the Flybe app portal to identify AQC candidates. Because you can't possibly fly a Q400 without having done at least 16hrs on a JOC! what a load of

There was a question asking about JOC but no hour requirement on the CTC form.

And what about if you did your mcc on a full flight simulator with 20 hours of jet sim and on top of that have a JOC with 4 hours of fixed base jet sim?

JOC requirement

Under the previous Bond recruitment system there was a huge perception that Flybe wouldn't look at you without a JOC, but anyone with the time and inclination to wade through the various pages on this thread will find confirmation from someone on the inside that it isn't (or wasn't) a mandatory requirement at application stage. If Flybe liked the look of you, you were sent off to Simtech to do a JOC before commencing a TR. Anyone on the inside like to confirm this? Heaven alone knows what the new approach is, but it will undoubtedly involved CTC somewhere along the line.
